That's how you see it, that's not how "everyone" see it. People play games for different reasons. I had "hundred" of clears in Stormblood EX simply because those fights were fun, probably the best EXs ever in the game. I also played hundred clears of Titania 'cause I love that fight too. I continued to do them even after I don't need anything any more, including the mount. Samething with PvP, I play it almost every day despite I never really care about the reward, 'cause I just like it.

    - I don't really do criterion either, but that's because it's simply not fun, not because of the lack of reward.
    - I didn't find the grind for the 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 relic fun, so despite liking some of the skin I was like "ok I'll come back in a few years" ... and that's exactly what I did.
    - I have A LOT of the Boza relic though, but not only because I like the skin, but because I had a blast playing that content.

While I won't deny a balance with the reward certainly help ... but the way you put it. Playing x for the reward even if you hate it, and vice versa ... seem to be a pretty ... sad way to spend time in a game, 'cause that sounds like a job.

And as someone point out, the community can't even agree on what "mid-core" content is. The joke about "customers are always right" is "what happens your customers don't agree with each others".
