I miss those dream cutscenes you used to get when logging in after logging out using a bed at an inn...Chocolate's great and all, but I want my inn biscuits back.
(I have been sometimes tempted to re-sub on my 1.x account just long enough to join my current FC and dump any remaining Hourglass Biscuits from Sarina's inventory into the FC chest, just so I can pick them up with this character. I know the biscuits are basically useless as Boiled Eggs do the same thing and all, but ALLOW ME MY NOSTALGIA, DANGIT.)
So, I've pointed this out before, but... this is a thing that always annoys me to see, because it honestly gets things backwards.
Speaking as someone who has done game dev, both at a AAA company and now in my spare time heading up an indie team, I have way more flexibility to do things as a "small indie company" than I ever did when I worked at a AAA studio.
Back when I did gamedev for my day job, if we wanted to make a change to something, we had to write it up, throw it to the higher-ups, if it affected scheduled milestones in any way they often had to send it further up to the publisher to get the okay, and then we had to get approval back down the chain before we started on something.
As a "small indie team", the process if I want to make a change is "I open Discord, open the team's server, pop to the appropriate channel and go 'hey, so, I had an idea on how I want to change <X>, I'm gonna throw that into the next build' and get a couple thumbs-up emoji." This is, let us say, rather faster.
Based on my own experiences... if SQEX were a small indie company, we actually would probably see more things done, simply because there would be less process to get in the way when the devs had something they wanted to do.
Do you mean the little flavor-text about a dream (and, I think, sometimes finding a random item under the bed, if I remember right?) or the actual nightmare cutscene as 1.x approached the end of days?
Either way, yeah, I do kind of miss the way inns used to work; the fact that there were benefits to logging out in an inn room (other than rested XP bonus) was nice. There are parts of 1.x that I think were really honestly neat ideas, and which I miss... unfortunately, they were generally buried amidst a lot of really questionable technical and game design choices. :|
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

Both of those ideas are great!
The outfit though... even in the illustration the two women look disappointed by the dress. Also, why does the gender-locked male-only pair of trousers have what looks like a female symbol on them? Are their designers and graphics team protesting the gender-lock too?
I'd have worn the male outfit, but sadly the dress just isn't my taste. And the hats cuts off miqo'te ears so it will rot away in the armoire like the others with that problem. Kind of disappointed to be honest.

Cool we get an emote to eat chocolate. I'm kinda meh on the outfits... but when are they going to have one of these Valentione's Day events where we get in a Chrysler mount that seats about 20 to drive down to the love shack after we find some jukebox money?
as someone who've dealt with big companies(not gamedev), I agree. So, I've pointed this out before, but... this is a thing that always annoys me to see, because it honestly gets things backwards.

A lot of red tape and redundancy in big companies.
let's not even talk when trying to coordinate stuff between two branches. Eugh
LOL yeah their expressions are like what is this thing? I’m thinking with the way they named them that they probably will be un-gender-locked in the future, so if we get one during the event, we should be able to get the other from the Calamity Salvager, even if they eventually put them in the cash shop. This was how it worked with the other Valentiones set… I ended up going back and getting the male set for one of my retainers. Not sure how long they take to show up at the Salvager though. Both of those ideas are great!

That would be cute. Runar's "give flowers" emote could also be something that would be perfect. Would even work for giving a present, giving chocolate, etc.
Looking forward to the dress. Between this glam and the last one from the tataru questlines, whoever's designing the outfits for these batches of content is doing a pretty good job. I hope the chocolate eating emote is looped but I doubt it.
I have to say I'm a bit confused by Emilie, design-wise. She has the same colour scheme as Astrid (and an Elezen-sounding name) but she's a Hyur, so they're not cousins or anything. Did they start out with her as part of the Valentione family before changing plans?
