Depends on how smart you are about what you're hoarding. If you're not hoarding for resale anticipating item prices to go back up, it's not worth anything.

If you're getting the extra retainers for the sake of more market listings, then that's worth something since the more you're able to sell, the more gil you can potentially earn.

Ultimately, the value is subjective depending on your personal goals and needs to meet those goals.

More sales are possible

More chances to get jet black dyes or whatever you need from ventures

Easier to grind specific materials (hides, ores etc.) That would take a while to get.

More space, so you can easily store housing furnitures, glams and other stuff.


It’s a positive across the board from all angles, so not a subjective opinion.
It comes down to you wanting this or not and pay the extra cash for it.

I personally only get one extra retainer at start of each expansion for a few months, just because I tend to hoard a lot of gear when I level my jobs.
But if you craft/gather you will probably need extra retainers as well.
