It's more about you guys being obsessed with him even as you harass him. Literal insanity. He lives rent free in the entirety of the forum's heads. It is funny to watch certain people almost enter withdrawal when Aveyond disappears from the forums.

Just admit it, OP. Sometimes people here earn a little disrespect, and it's really that simple. I'll just say it: This place is full of some of the most annoying selfish irritating and also objectively incorrect people I've ever communicated with in this entire game. Like... no, sometimes "both sides" don't have a point. Sometimes the people here are just blatantly incorrect, or they'll hold "opinions" that are totally unreasonable, and when you ask them to elaborate a little, they just reveal how selfish and childlike they really are. I toe the line in my posts and even I find it hard to not go over it, but I seriously can't help it sometimes. People who barely read your posts, engage in bad faith with bad faith arguments regularly, and behave like they're paid company shills or parodies of the "got mine" attitude don't deserve your good will or your polite engagement. To use your example: A guy on here just asked for more sitting options and his thread's blowing up with people for whom the crux of their argument is essentially "I wouldn't want to use this optional feature because I think sitting like a woman is gross, so I don't think anyone else should be able to either." There it is. "I don't like this optional thing, so nobody else should have it." That's like, the prominent attitude on display here in just about every thread. Both sides don't have a point there. One side is being petulant, childlike, and ridiculous. That's like 80% of the people here. It's a reason these forums are a meme on every other XIV platform.

Yeah I thought about bringing him up but I felt it better not to. Someone like him is clearly unhappy about quite literally everything and I think it would be in his personal best interest to just leave the game. Of course I didn't put it as nicely cause frankly the dude rubs me the wrong way.

I mean sure, the rest of your post has a point... but Aveyond, really? He hasn't been all that comprehensive for a while. Not since he started shoving his one view of how the game should work down any form of feedback or suggestion.

I think it's a perfect example. OP is trying to tone police us and tell us that both sides have a valid point, but here's a situation where one side wrote out a lot of valid points and OP was unwilling to hear those points and told him to unsub because he disagrees with him. I dislike tone policing in general; we all have our moments, and you've just gotta deal with it imo.

Yeah that's kind of my point. We all just have things that rub us wrong, and for me that thing happens to be people who engage in bad faith. For others it might be something else, idk.

This. I've been lurking the forums for about a month or two now and most "discussions" are never that. Person A makes a post. Either Person B comes and refutes it with a good response and Person A suddenly starts to attack Person B with ad hominem or Person B responds with the ad hominem then it degenerates from there. It becomes a headache to read a somewhat interesting perspective on, let's say for example patch 6.3 story, that turns into several pages of people just dogpiling the person rather than talking about what's being said.

One thing I've noticed is that a fair number of people seemingly can't tell the difference between attacking an argument and attacking an arguer.

There's also a number of people who don't seem to be willing to actually discuss anything, because falling back on hater/white knight/whatever other meme of the week is so much easier.

I'm not going to drop names for either, but both are a big part of why I just can't be bothered to do much more than make bad jokes anymore. There doesn't feel like much point in trying to have a discussion in good faith when I can't really expect the other person to respond in kind.

I recall Titanman and Damian but that\\\\'s it. I just don\\\\'t go out on a crusade on someone I dislike and start harassing them like others like to do. If the dude is a troll then you could just ignore but you can\\\\'t. Instead it\\\\'s 20pgs of people makin fun of him like 3 year olds. I don\\\\'t know the local trolls nowadays but y\\\\'all keep him in your prayers way too much lmao. It\\\\'s actually sad and funny.
