What's Going On w/ Map and Submarine Rewards? Lack of MB Availability?

So what exactly is going on with map and sub rewards (e.g. minions, plating, orchestrion, etc.)? We're almost in week 3 post-patch, and usually by now even the rarest map/sub items are freely available and significantly cheaper than what's on the MB now. I've been playing this game since 1.0 launch and I always farm what I can and buy what I can't, but I've never seen it (rewards and MB) like this before.

Did something happen? Lower player count? Some hard restriction on completing maps other than RNG (e.g. map difficulty, etc.)?

the sub/airship system is awful. my old FC we spent 4 months trying to unlock one location because we would never get the rng luck of it unlocking when it explored it. 4 months for a middle point location. From what my current fc leader has told me the new areas are even worse for discovery and my old FC has never missed a sub and is still struggling unlock stuff from this expansion.

For sub rewards, I'm guessing that there has been a lot of player upheaval due to Dynamis and new FC housing, and I assume that the newer sub stuff in particular requires max or near max leveled subs?

In that case, you're probably seeing the effect of a lot of active FCs on NA being relatively new: if you moved to Dynamis and founded a FC at the outset, you still had to wait the month waiting period before your FC was old enough to enter the housing lottery, and then five more days for the entry period to finish, before you could even begin leveling a submarine. So figure how many currently active FCs couldn't even have begun to level a submarine until middling-ish December and it's only been about 5-6 weeks or so since then.

How far can a fresh submarine level up in 5-6 weeks? (And that's assuming you aren't using voyage slots on airships as well to get that initial stockpile of supplies).

I'm not as sure about maps (unless the sheer number of different map types is starting to become a thing, so there's a slow decline in the percentage of map gather cooldowns that are used on the newest because of players that choose to collect older maps because they're after specific drops?).

Good insight. Subs makes sense, but I'm still stumped on maps. This would be expected if nobody was running maps, but I have no data to back that up. But something's amiss.

I don't think anything out of the ordinary is going on. It's taking some time for the subs to level, as it usually does. Mine are at 103, as I work on unlocking. I have yet to retrieve any new items. It's only been two weeks.

Which map items are you referring to? If you're willing to share that info. I just did maps last night, and kept a small list of things that we acquired from it. None of the items seemed particularly expensive. tbh I'm not even crazy about doing more, since the rewards were so cheap. Curious if there's a jackpot item I'm missing, or if you're referring to materials from an older map.

Both of the minions that drop from new maps are worth $15 - $20mm a piece on the MB. Supply is low. RNG is RNG, but maps are casual content that is generally heavily participated in. So low supply on the MB after 2-3 weeks indicates something is up - and it's probably not the drop rate. No idea if it's just the RNG spinner is bad, there's a boss or two that is hard for the casual playerbase, or people just aren't running maps.

Nothing is up. RNG is random and people are likely opting to use the minions over selling them.

Those 2 minions only come from the hydaelyn space. I've been doing maps since they released and Saturday night was the first time I'd ever seen that special space get landed on, and it happened twice in the same map. Both minions dropped.

So I wanted one of the new Orchestrion scrolls and I see that its locked behind sub voyages as if people that own subs aren't already making easy gil, there are only 4 of these scrolls across all US servers and its going for like 13mil+. Stop locking out most players from getting these items.
