Just let everyone plop a house on their Island Sanctuary

Which is where my confusion comes from when players say "its not housing" because it is functionally the exact same thing interior-wise. Ok you cant crossbreed or have outside slots. But anything else outside that?

They said it was not a house. While apartment is housing, it is NOT a house. Advertisement tells me I can build my own house, I should be able to.

Everyone can own an apartment and everyone should also be able to own a house. No reason some lucky players would be able to have both but others not based strictly on luck.

As for functionality and features: a small is about 3x the size of an apartment, you can have a garden, tenants (who can also help with decoration and gardening), use outdoor furnishings (the game showers us with those), a practice dummy, more vendors, more crafting stations, more pots to grow things indoors....on top of an apartment (you can have both!). That's a lot more convenience.

There is no reason at all to object to instanced housing for every subscriber. I am saying this as the owner of two houses (separate DCs), an fc, apartments and fc rooms.

If I stop playing the game, I couldn't care less what they do with my personal house: I enjoy it while I play the game but if I stop, I don't care and if it goes to someone who actively plays, I am happy. As for the FC it would go to a friend.

If an apartment is pretty much the same, then you shouldn't make this fuss about not subbing either. Just remove your stuff from the plot the day before (what I will do and then they can sell the plot.)

I believe, and I hope I am right, that the 90 slots for outdoor furnishings, might lead to private housing down the road.

For the people who like their island layout/ biome I agree But, yoshi-p has said pretty much no to this idea which is just fine imo.

I personally hate the island sanctuary & only deal with it to get currency for items to sell.
It doesn't feel personalized & the future addition of adding furnishings is just a band-aid fix but I still welcome that addition- even though I won't use it. I'm happy for the players that will.

I wouldn't even compare island sanctuary to animal crossing- Island Sanctuary is just a larger Doman Enclave with a garden & pets that you can forget about..
It lacks everything good that was in Stardew or Animal Crossing because those games offered in-depth personalization, customization & you could have villagers live on your island or get married & have children (stardew)

Random people visit my FC all the time. The Discord I'm in visits houses randomly. It's absolutely a thing. lol Also, why not both?

No, because it doesn't say anywhere that she can build a house on a server that is already full. Anyone can create or transfer a character to a new server and build a house there. On most servers people can also build an FC house.

I care about this and most decorators and venue owners do. But I would wager the people screeching for instanced housing wouldn't care about foot traffic anyway. I think having a house on your island would be great. I do get visitors but I have to say, showing it to strangers is much more difficult with the island. Last week I did a design showcase on my island by making a party finder. People didn't understand they should join the party to access my island. I had to keep explaining how to access the island and adding ransoms to my friend list because they couldn't figure out they need to join the party

I'd like my house to be surrounded by a temperate forest which isn't tropical and I want to invite Thancred over to have tea with and little flirty cutscenes.
I want other players to be able to invite their favorite scion or NPC over and have their own interactions.



Now that we can add decor to our island sanctuary, has anyone actually tried decorating? As much as I love decorating, the island sanctuary still leaves alot to be desired. (I have not cared to decorate it.)


I've recently put in a bid on a medium house on my server but come to realize that.. I hope I lose it. At this point, I'd like to wait for additional housing to be added- whether it's 1 year or 5 years from now.
I hate being plopped beside players who have ugly houses. (the Hingan and Shirogane house decorations specifically) I can sit by a Paissa, chocobo, candy, carbuncle, moogle house no problem. But Shirogane style houses are the loudest eyesore of a housing ward.

My point in saying this leads to me wanting instanced housing- Or atleast apartments and FC rooms being given 100-200+ more item spaces and new, larger layouts. (with built in lofts/ upper floors)
I want apartments to have shared player/ tenant settings.

-And for players who want to show off their decorations, I think there should be a social system within ffxiv where we can queue and preview other players houses, visit, friendly interactions etc.
And this could be assorted by themes-
For those who don't know, you can add some descriptions to your house currently when previewing house wards to teleport to (ex: Venue, visitors welcome, immersive experience) But instead, this can be filtered and categorized for people looking for specific houses. Bakery? Boom- all of the houses players assigned the bakery tag will be the only ones shown, along with a cute little preview window.
Like how when you queue up for a raid or dungeon, and get the little window preview? Have that for visiting peoples housing themes, and let players pick the picture of their house preview-
Mind you, some players would obviously abuse this so it could be adjusted over time. It would atleast curb the empty feel that every ward I've been in has. Getting visitors would be nice.

Eventually. Just be patient. We now know it's possible. I for one was super pleased with the outdoor update. TBH I spend more time on my housing yard than its interior.
