If you did 10 matches a day you'd be long done before the series ends, win or lose.
There's huge grinds in this game but the series pass isn't one of them.
I wish the gameplay was fun. I don’t care for the rewards, just want a fun game
OP, you have 4 months... I've played for two days just pvping for 2 hours each day and I'm already half way through the second row. It doesn't take long.
There is a lot of gameplay facets in the game that involve playing the actual content to get certain rewards. I for instance, don't touch the gold saucer because I can't stand it. It's subjective. But I'm not whining because I can't get the goodies inside.
If the actual OP was about FOMO and whatnot, I could take it more seriously though.
Not to flame but... many folks have completed the entire series reward battle pass in the first week, some even in the first day. With the amount of addon users, GCD hacking, and infinite sprint hacking (Literally the same ninja I have seen in season 1 is still around unloading their entire kit in 1 second and killing people, and I took a break lol).
Assuming you are losing every game, the first row takes 5 games to gain one level, and if you are winning every game 4 games every level. Each conflict game is 5 minutes (usually, some have some overtime shenanigans. Some games half the enemy team AFKs or half of your team does.). Which means on the first row of the battle pass alone you are probably playing on average 45 games.
Which is 225 minutes, or 4 hours (rounded up from 3.75 hours) of dealing with infuriating things. This number goes up for the tier 2 rewards, cause it goes from 3k experience per 'not battle pass' level, to 4k, and then t3 goes up and you get the drift.
Considering it is a competitive player versus player game mode with no power influence over the character this gets bad real quick as well. Not only are you dealing with cheaters which makes the game unfun for both sides no matter whos side they are on, but also you get people who don't even try. The black mage who sits in the open casting over and over not even attempting to move away from 3 people running at them, or worse the 3 people you get that just hold W into the enemy team and die over and over.
TLDR: There is just too many infuriating bad player behaviour issues that make grinding the pass incredibly unfun. This isn't even including the actual PvP balance itself.
Flame away.
It should not even be possible to complete a battlepass designed to last for 4 months, in 1 week. In my opinion, the grind is much too short as it currently is to keep people engaged with PvP.
FF14 PVP has too many skills. It’s too fast pace for spamming attacks and tabbing to the correct player to attack. This becomes a spam fest of mashing buttons and cycling through players.
MOBA games are fun even the simple mobile versions. The combat is slowed down and characters have a minimum 3 to 6 skills to use.
The problem with FF14 gameplay has always been the combat. It’s not satisfying hitting damage sponges, but that’s PVE and bringing that to PVP isn’t fun.
My proposal for PVP is the slow down the combat and make the skills really count. That’s it. MOBA games have a healer, tank, DPS, ranged DPS, and magical DPS. FF14 also has those and plenty of them. FF14 tried with its MOBA mode but they did nothing with the skills (still a tabbing spam fest)
Each class should be a unique character. Each class should have a different timer on its skills, each class skill should be used in a tactical why for the players to figure out.
The new crystal PVP mode isn’t going to fool me. You can’t slap a new mode (DEV’s) and wonder why no one one’s to play it.
The PVP combat is jittery. Everyone flickers around on screen flying around in zigzag movements. Spamming all kinds of attacks and seemingly wouldn’t die because godlike healers can keep them up. It’s so bad and the memories it brings. Slow down the game play and allow players to strategize their attacks and not spam. Slow down the running speed.
Too many skills? Lmao gtfo.
