You get a random assortment of spells in the beginning
Bosses and enemies are also randomized within a range and you can learn spells from them
Sounds good or not?

No, I'd much rather Blue Mage be updated to become a full job than to continue tacking on temporary fixes for what is essentially a dead-end class.

Shhh, you can't say that! It's *different* from the normal 2 minute burst system that normal jobs have, therefore it's automatically not soulless or something.
Even though everyone runs the exact same meta build for whatever you're using it for...
It's meant as side content to have fun messing around with something that's otherwise ridiculously OP. If they were to make BLU into a "normal" job, they'd need to nerf it so hard it would lose everything that makes it fun for the people who enjoy it. Some people like Gold Saucer events. Some people like doing FATEs to unlock the highest rewards in each zone. Some people like finding all the Sightseeing Log spots. Some people like BLU. It's never, ever been presented as meant to be a "normal" job, and it's precisely the "limited" nature of it that allows them to go nuts with it and give it a kit with far more power than anything else.
It's not what I would like to see but I'd accept it just so they'd do something with BLU
