Current Primal weapon rewards and 2.0

I have seen a lot of forums discuss if the current primal weapon rewards will still be obtainable in the new 2.0 client. I am sure I am not the only one having trouble obtaining all of the weapons, especially those who did not get to do the Garuda blm spam-fest a while back.

I have seen a few players quote the second live letter when a Dev made a vague statement in regards to the rewards because the primal battles have some stake in the 7th umbral era.

So my question to the community reps, development team, or Director Yoshida (Yoshi-P) is the following. Can you please bring closure to the question if the current primal weapons (ifrit, moogle, garuda) will still be obtainable post 2.0? Time is running short and I would like to know if all my game time should be focused on this objective vs. all the new content thats been released. I would like some assurance that I have time. I am sure others feel the same.

    Thank you very much.

^From what I understand, everything that has to do with the 7th umbral era and Dalamud, will not be available in 2.0. They are a one time deal, and if you don't play now, you'll miss out.

I've wondered the same OP and would really like a Dev response in the matter. We really don't have much time until the new client....I'd like to know how to spend my last days on FFXIV 1.0.

I'm very interested in knowing the response to this as well... Yoshi's recent quote in his letter about there being (only one primal per server?) kinda had me wondering.

And like Purix just said, the current GC stuff also has me rushing to constantly amass seals for purchasing all those Lieutenant-level items... I really do hope the Maelstrom wont be scrapped for 2.0... I'm utterly devoted to Limsa and Merlwyb

Just to clarify, they've said its going to be 1 of each primal god per world. Not sure if you meant it that way or not, but just wanted to offer that up since it seems to have caused some confusion.

Might be helpful to check out Gamerescape's most recent interview at E-3 with Yoshi-P: http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/2012/06/07/e3-2012-interview-summons-chocobos-train-tracks-and-rocks/#more-10676

Included in that interview was the following:
"GE: We know that there is some game content that will no longer be available with the launch of 2.0. Will any of the current achievements likewise be unavailable after 2.0?
Yoshida: Yes, there will be some that can only be obtained now. For example, since the maps will be completely changed in 2.0, aetheryte will be in different places. So there will be new achievements that players will be able to obtain based on the new locations. Another example are achievements based on participating in the current events that lead up to the Seventh Umbral Era.
GE: Could the community get a list of which current achievements will not be available in 2.0?
Yoshida: That’s a great idea! We will try to get it out with the release of 1.23. We don’t want to upset the fans."

Maybe some of these questions will be answered in that list. *crosses fingers*

I think the weapons will still be obtainable. From what I can tell it's the actual quests we've been doing that won't be available any more. (Ifrit Bleeds, We Can Kill It/Taming the Tempest/A Feast of Fools)

We'll still be able to kill the Primals and obtain there weapons, but the battle will be different because they will be free roaming on the world map.

From the JP interview it seem that the dungeon fight would still be in 2.0 but also they be roaming. But only the roaming one you get to control the dungeon version is more just to get the weps.

Time to piece together a few tidbits of information.

The only primal battles associated with the 7th Umbral Era storyline are the easy-mode fights of Ifrit and Garuda. The hard mode ones and the moogle fight are not a part of it. So while "It Kills with Fire" and "In for Garuda Wakening" may be abolished to be replaced by alternate Primal introduction fights, the quests "Ifrit bleeds, we can kill it", "A Feast of Fools" and "Taming the Tempest" are not related to this.

In the FFXIV screenshots released at E3, one shows the Linkshell chat box saying something along the lines of "Meet at the Howling Eye." This suggests that the instanced location where Garuda is fought is not being removed from the version 2.0 client.

In contrast to this, Yoshi-P has spoken of the primals being wandering entities that can then be captured and summoned. This suggests non-instanced encounters.

There has also been talk about FFXIV being more of a fan-service type game and a need to make it more final fantasy-like. Removing content that allows you to confront iconic FF characters at will and instead rely on chance to take it on in the field (let's face it, the hardcore endgame guilds will camp for these spawns) seems counter-productive with respect to this aim if you want to appeal to the maximum number of players.

So... My conclusion is that the instanced fights will most likely continue to exist independent of the "capture-in-the-field" fights. And if the instance still exists, the weapons would still be able to drop.

Umm...idk what you mean but yeah, the high-level primal battles do have to do with the seventh umbral era. The whole reason we are fighting them is because they are sapping aetherial energy and messing up the balance of the world, which is what caused the Garleans to call forth Dalamud.

I'm not saying they'll be gone, I have no idea one way or the other. Just saying there is a connection to the hard mode primal battles and dalamud.
