And it's also better at making it agonizing to go pick up your gil at the placard when you just lost, after having waited 5 days for result, to then have to wait another 4 days to even bid again, and a whole 9 days to have the next results.

The odds of winning a house at a placard as one person agaisnt 50 is better than one person agaisnt 300 in lottery

Odds are very dependant on where you are server wise. When placard spam was a thing I rarely saw over 10 people at one in my old server. On my server now, it's either 1 person bidding against me or 0. So, in my case it's better as the lottery.

Also not to mention you don't need to literally avoid eating, drinking or using the bathroom the entire time out of fear of missing the chance to click. If that's not unhealthy to you then idk lol.

Not saying its healthy, I really am not, but it was still better than waiting an entire 9 days per cycle in my opinion, in any case the new worlds and wards seem to have fixed the housing crisis pretty much, so I think at this point it's a non issue, except maybe on Balmung and some select NA worlds, lottery and new wards did their job, and the people that still dont have a house are people that react as "but i want shiro and not goblet !!" when they see a large shiro with 50 bids and a large goblet with 3 bids and decided to bid on the shiro one.

People are too difficult, people want shiro or mist, while ishgard or goblet are almost completely deserted, and yet people complain that there's no houses, it really is self inflicted at this point

Also another thing I mentioned earlier I think in this post, send people their gil via mail, remove this walk of shame to the plot when you've lost it and the person is literally decorating it as you come by to pick up your money, it's really unnecessary and frustrating

ah the need of instant gratification and the joys of having unlimited free time! I’d rather spend two minutes of my time with the new system and play the game while I wait than dumb clicking a panel for hours. Anyway, I have a family, a job, properties to maintain and finding “just” 3-4 consecutive hours at a given time to click non stop on a panel is impossible. I’m sure that’s the case of many others too.

I don’t mind collecting my money from the placard if I lost. I don’t see what is shameful about it: it’s a random draw. Not everyone is a sore loser: I’ve recently helped a winner setting up his house as he was unfamiliar with the system. Someone did the same thing with me when I won my first house too.

I remember I saw this coming years ago because even when it was the current expansion Ishgard was always a complete ghost town on account of it being extremely gloomy and depressing. What the community should have asked for is Sea of Clouds housing so we could live out our sky pirate dreams. Too late now I suppose.
