Same tbh. I had a poolside medium there which I was told is a good spot but the orange tiles everywhere and the lack of good scenery were really off putting. All the other regions have something special about them, like the sea or plants or snow. I hope you are able to get out soon.

Really feels like housing has become this resource black hole for the devs lol

I wonder if they regret adding it in the first place

At this point just nuke the whole system. Either allow the feature to be accessible to all players or dont have it at all.

I would hope their regret would be making a system that had no future-proofing at all, though I imagine a lot of that came from not expecting anywhere near the growth that they have had.

That's the thing. I don't think the devs at all even dreamed that their game could reach these numbers.

They made a game to compete against WoW. But they were expecting to just be kept afloat, around numbers that would make their game appear "successful". You know, at least in stark contrast to 1.0, in a genre that was kinda dying for a while. Even at its relative heights before the boom in popularity from SB and beyond, they were counting themselves alongside games like GW2 or PSO2.

Suddenly, this game became all the rage. It not only crashed the servers so hard that instances died on Stormblood, it led to sales being suspended in late Shadowbringers. The massive exodus waves from World of Warcraft made people experiment with the game and come to enjoy it. No one expected WoW to crash as hard as it did, and certainly no one expected FF14 to grow as much as it did because of it.

    But here's the rub.

Even before, we had issues with supply. Sure, it was just "a matter of time" until you had a house*, but... it certainly wasn't this bad. Then the influx came, and they needed to put in restrictions and systems to try and alleviate things, like relocation or the 1-house limit. And it just... didn't work as great as they wanted it to. And now we have this. It doesn't matter what system you're in. If you can't solve the supply numbers, your systems will always generate salt.

*of course it's not as clear-cut anyway because some people bought ENTIRE DISTRICTS worth of houses at the time... so that's just a matter of speaking really.

I specifically chose the Goblet because I liked the area down in Brimming Heart more than the other areas. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I have the small right next to the waterfall, and love it. I'm not a fan of Lav Beds, and my FC house is in Mist. I have no interest in Snow Hell or Weeb City. Unless they introduce an area I care about for housing (Sharlayan would be one) and would like the designs of the base houses, I don't see myself wanting to move or get out. There's not really much you can do with a desert clime either to make it "prettier," and I say this as someone who lives about an hour away from the non-developed desert in my state: the Goblet/Thanalan looks exactly like the desert outside of the developed cities near my own home. (...maybe that's why I enjoy the area, reminds me of home lmao)

So, now you know one person who likes the Goblet and doesn't want to move. :P

Well, I'm happy you two love the goblet so much. In my eyes, it's the ugliest housing area in the game. The only nice place is the Brinnming Heart but that bc it's in the center with the pool and waterfall. Meanwhile, the outer ring looks so ugly and brown. It's not just the background I hate either, it's how the yards are designed. I like my gate to be lined up with my large's door but it's not. They thought it would be a good idea to put the gate right next to the side of the building, making some house designs not work bc it blocks the gate. For example, I like the cafe design but I can't use it bc the flower beds where the dining area sits right in front of the gate to the yard. You have to walk through the flower beds to even get into the yard. That makes my yard so hard to work with to the point I can't use the design anymore. It hurts my OCD so much and is one of many reasons why I want out of the goblet no matter what. No house design looks good with a goblet large and its yard. I'm even willing to give up my large and move into a med(sorry I have way too many items to go back to a small at this point) in an area I will actually like to look at. As I said in another post my large also reminds me of a really good friend with who I had a huge fallen out since they were the ones who found it and lend me the money for it. They are also the ones to talk me into buying back in SB even though I never wanted a large. I just wanted a med bc smalls are the way to small and I had so many items I wanted to use.

See I'm different bc I want to live in an area nowhere like the place I live irl. I live in the south where I never see snow(which I love snow ALOT) so that is why I want to live in ishgead badly but thanks to this lottery system and the limited amounts meds and lrgs I most like never will. I'll never be able to be in an area I actually like, or a yard I want to make it look nice. You call ishgard a snow hell but I call it heaven. The real hell for me is the goblet and it's a hell I most like never be able to escape from either...

This isn't OCD. Please stop spreading a stereotype that is incorrect while making it harder for people with actual OCD to be understood.

That's fair, I'm sorry I used that wording. Tho it does bother me a lot I can't neatly spit my yard with a nice walking path from the gate to the door and the fact I can't use one of my fav house designs in the game.

Even this little overlap of the deck area of this house design hurts my soul so much...
