what I do is put things I want to see, like fc, tells etc on the old Novice channel tab. I generally flip to that in the cities if its really bad or if I am crafting.

otherwise its on general which gets everything. flipping shout chat that way shouldnt interfere with your "shot calling" if you are shouting it.
