hey man you already got the game Ad dont gotta work for youImagine my shock when I was confronted by the latest marketing stunt for this game that once again makes me ask the question:
Who are you actually trying to appeal to?
Because a handful of teenagers in cosplay espousing...that is certainly not the sort of thing that would have gotten me to try the game back when I started around that age bracket.
It goes without saying that the resources that went into making this could have easily been spent elsewhere and that the marketing could have been easily more economical - a quick clip of something like a CE in Bozja, snippets of a cutscene from a job quest, all more easy to sit through than stuff like this.
FFXIV deserves better representation than ads like this one and the one that was rightfully dubbed the Cocomelon FFXIV crossover tutorial series. Ads like these make me feel embarrassed by association now and would have absolutely made me feel the same way when I was younger.
Please get it together. You're not building rapport with any audience with this or the other "video series."
Food hot take: burger and buuz are conceptually the same thing. I will not be taking arguements on this.
Now that's asking the real questions!
Ok
No
This is it
THIS is the thread that is the glue that binds all the pieces together.
OP is a troll
There is NO WAY any sane person looks at this AD, and gets this upset. XD
only thing I got to add if any<or haven't already>
is that hood, first I hear of this add..,
it'd be too much Crafting Cope from Hope. that it's a sign of potential changes. but that's an obvious way too much speculation.
Can't wait to see a sprout come here and Ask..,
Where's My Hood..,
OP is a forum poster so the idea of sanity is already questionable from the start. I however still believe that everything aveyond posts represents what he really thinks. To what end (to have a genuine discussion or to just upset other people for the thrill of it) is a judgement everyone is going to make for themselves.
Usually I would call most of SE's n English advertisement team as super cringe inducing, in the worst way possible. But these aren't that bad, kinda funny even, even if a little cringey n cheesey. At least it's not on the same scale of bad, their last starter guide videos were.
It feels very much like those old funny 'The Guild' episodes of funny reference to random mmo tropes, this being a little bit more for the more loose casual potential customers.

You can say that misses the mark, but a lot of things miss the mark for me, like lalafells and catgirls. But I just ignore that they exist and focus on what I enjoy about the game.
But guess what? Even though these things miss the mark for me, they don't for others. Lalafells and catgirls are among the most popular races. People lap up glamour when I don't really care about it. So people will probably lap this up. Their target audience may not be us, but that doesn't mean there isn't a target audience that exists for it.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

I'll keep the criticism at bay (mostly), and mention what got me to try FFXIV.
What caught my interest was when I watched a YouTube video of players taking on Ifrit on normal difficulty. That was back in 2015, which was a time before the playerbase has become what it is today. The last mmo I played was FFXI, so I was completely unaware of the WoW style of combat that 2.0 adopted, and was blown away by the combat style. I loved it! I ventured further and saw another video of Titan HM. The gameplay, the music, the arena being destroyed as progression was made. It was fantastic. That was all the pitch I needed to buy the game and subscribe.
If this ad as was their pitch back then, I never would have touched this game. Ads should never alienate any part of their playerbase, regardless of how diverse it is.
And then you try the game, load into limsa and immediately see a hoard of naked cat girls doing saying questionable things in chat while emoting at eachother
