Dx crashes while loading a voiced cutscene

I've seen other subjects about DX issues, but I'd like to add another to get help if possible, but also show how frequent this issue seems to be in order to get a patch soon.

As said in the title, a voiced msq cutscene is supposed to start but DX11 just crashes the game.
I can do everything else in the game except continuing the msq.

Edit/UPDATE: It actually crashes at several moments. In a non voiced cutscene, at the start of a dungeon, ...

As other players with this issue, I've tried the most common solutions:
- update drivers though I might have forgotten some of them
- check OS updates
- switch direct 9/11
- install game on a different drive
- repair files through game launcher
- uninstall/reinstall game

And it still crashes.

This issue started after the last extension has been added.

It is recommended to install the game on the C drive with the OS.

I would un-install the game completely and then re-download it fresh, but before you login once it updates (Play turns green), I would copy the install directory to an external drive or another folder/drive so you can later just copy and paste to skip re-downloading 68gb.

Once you have it installed fresh, then I would test it on Standard graphics setting or less (uncheck stuff, turn off stuff), go to the config and turn off "Show Battle Effects" for You > Party > Others and test.

Try turning down the pre-set character and object display quantity* in the config from default I think is Maximum, put it on Minimum or something like High or less and test.

Maybe you have an issue with your 1050, as it says it has 12gb of memory, but its shared with the system, which is "unknown amount", try putting everything on minimum and use 720p to test if it crashes.

In your menu, under System Config in the game, under the Display tab, what does it say for "DISPLAY.1~", is it Intel UHD 630, or Nvidia Geforce GTX 1050 Ti?

Hello and thank you for your answer

The crash is still here but I THOUGHT I had it """fixed""" when I realised deleting the FFXIV with all my personnal settings (Documents/My Games/FFXIV) would allow me to finally watch cutscenes.
Until today where the crash occured again and even if I tried my solution once more, this time it doesnt work.

I've tried your suggestions as well but nothing changed. The game runs on the Nvidia card and I cant move it to the C drive as it's simply too heavy.

I could try to reinstall the game, but it's already 3 times I'm doing it since the crash appeared, and I'm not ready to do it everytime something happens.

It mostly appears on msq cutscenes, sometimes in dungeons as well, in other words, it's a pain.

The error message I get everytime says that "memory cannot be read" (link is the screenshot of the error message, in french)

The only "viable" solution I found so far is to ask a friend to log in with my account and skip cutscenes so that I can move on with the msq...

And as it would be too simple to have one issue, I cannot run the game on DirectX11 as when I hit "play", it says that the update failed, so I can only run DirectX9.

Personally, I would un-install Nvidia Geforce Experience completely and use the Driver only download for your 1050 from the Nvidia site, as GFE along with Shadowplay and the Overlay often cause issues with this game.

Though running the game on other Drives and not C, also often cause issues too.

I'm not sure what that memory error is, but it does say that your Nvidia card shares its memory with the System, 16GB of memory, 12GB available to the card if I read it correctly, maybe its too much shared from the total, no idea.

I would recommend trying one last thing, open the Nvidia Control Panel app, click "Manage 3D settings" tab, here you want to do two things, click the blue link "Windows graphics settings" and it'll open the OS settings menu for Apps and which Graphics card they have access to, click "Browse" (if FFXIV isn't in the App list) and navigate to your FFXIV folder, in it select the "Game" folder and the exe with dx9 to add, once added, click in list on FFXIV and select "Options", now select "Power Saving > Intel UHD 630 and save.
Next in the Nvidia control panel select "Program settings" tab, click on Add, then down at the bottom of this window select Browse, now find the FFXIV folder, then Game and select the dx9 exe of ffxiv, once added, below in the window you'll see a 2. Select the preferred graphics processor for this program, in the drop down box select Intel UHD 630 and click the Apply button that pops up at the bottom of the window.

Now login to the game and on the title, select Configuration and then Display tab, change the resolution to 1280x720 or 1336x720, something x720, as UHD 630 will perform bad on 1080p or more.
Apply that and login your character, it'll look like crap probably, might have to also go to Graphics tab and put everything on low settings, now try to view a cutscence that usually you can't, it should play it and if so, you can simply do this to change the Graphics card to progress the story CS's, then afterwards, simply do as I mentioned above again but select the Nvidia GTX 1050 instead and save.

It should work as its using the Processor's in-built graphics, completely ignoring the Nvidia one which is most likely the cause if your crashes.
