    Idea for Goring Blade

    Just an idea I had when looking through the paladin changes. So goring blade is now one of the most boring abilities in the game. Press it once a minute because it deals lots of damage. It did occur to me that paladin has two other skills that are similar: Expiation and Circle of Scorn. Hit 'em because numbers. So I had an idea to make these three skills interact with each other a bit:

    Circle of scorn has a 20 second duration and a 60 second cooldown. Each tick of it has a chance to reset the cooldown of Expiation.

    Expiation would grant 25 oath gauge and has a chance to reset the cooldown of goring blade.

    Goring blade deals around 400 potency and extends the duration of circle of scorn by 15 seconds.

    Not a paladin main and never really have been, but I think my main gripe with new paladin (aside from the fact that now its just a burst job which I hate pls Squeenix get rid of the 2 min meta in 7.0) is how boring goring blade is.

    It's a good approach but has too much rng effects which isn't part of Paladin's identity of consistency. Something along the lines of this would be more consistent, break up the monotony of the rotation, enhance rotation flexibility and increase the ability to disengage.

    [Action][Weaponskill] Goring Blade (Lv. 54)
    Delivers an attack with a potency of 130.
    Combo Action: Riot Blade or Shield Bash
    Combo Potency: 380
    Combo Bonus: Increases Oath Gauge by 10
    Combo Bonus: Grants Royal Blessing
    Royal Blessing Effect: Increases damage dealt by 15%
    Duration: 25s
    Combo Bonus: Grants 1 stack of Divine Might (Up to 5)
    Duration: 30s

    I see alot of these posts from you which seem to be part of a greater whole, however, I don't think I have seen any posts you have made (I might be mistaken) that goes over all these changes you had in mind. This, in turn, makes some of these action changes you post seem either incomplete or really out of place in regards to current PLD.

    Eg. your Goring Blade, you just wanted to turn it into Storm's Eye? I assume it granting Oath is because in your eyes it needs to be disconnected from AAs? What is your idea behind being able to stack Divine Might? I assume it is for the burst phase, however, with current PLD, there is no way you would get enough GCDs to get 5 Divine Mights per 60 second loop.

    If you have a post where you have outlined everything, I would happily read it, however, if you have not, I might suggest you make a topic with all these changes lined out, just so that I (and maybe others) can have a better idea of what is running through your head.

    Not sure about linking Forum posts within a post, but I have written the full rework I had in mind and am still refining it. I tend to look around various forums for ideas and how they would work on all levels in Tooltip format. The idea is to overhaul the 6.2 PLD iteration and just build on top of it, while attempting to keep the original rotation. Oath gauge will still be generated by auto attacks with actions and spells complementing it.

    An easy way to deal with Goring Blade, and by extension Atonement, is to remove the Atonement from Royal Authority combo and make it a combo from Goring Blade.

    I like helping people with their Job ideas, it's fun to help them visuallize and create the job they'd like to play most. Plus I make my own too, I'll post them eventually.

    Unfortunately it's the only way I know of to spice up Goring Blade and simultaneously deal with the nuisance known as Atonement, short of removing both from the game.

    The problem is that PLD is mimicking GNB already, with Goring Blade being Sonic Break. With two combos, at least there's potential for difference in how they work. IE, MP builder/spenders, rather than GNB where it's 'do this one every 30s, and fill with the other when you can't do the fun one'

    You and me both. Atonement was a mistake that needs to be rectified.
