Healer/Caster Armor is Boring

I play a healer in every kind of RPG/MMO I've ever had. I don't know how most of them have not fixed this yet. Healers wearing robes is an extremely overdone and boring concept. The new Euphrosyne raid is out now, and the tank armor looks so amazing, while the casters just get another flat-colored robe with crystals on it. I want more ACTUAL armor. The Radiant's set at level 90, and some of the Aglaia gear is nice, but come on. I'd even love it if they made the Ward's Knight armor on the mog station no job restriction. Just anything.

+1. I'd love it if they would remember that men play magic users too, and gave us more stuff along the lines of the False Monarchy sets for casters and healers. The Archfiend set is another favorite of mine to use on them, coupled with some crafted Zurvan EX weapons.

It's ironic that the only scions that are healers are men, and yet the new twist on this expansions' artifact gear is "a feminine approach" just like last expansions, and the expansion before that... and the expansion before that... If you don't look like a nun or a bride on her wedding day, are you even healing?

I'd call it a win still if all healing gear for an entire expansion was any color but white. I don't know who was the idiot who started this trend in MMOs but it needs to die. Viciously.

If for no other reason than - we're in the midst of battle and you want us to wear WHITE where everything is going to get all over it? Or people focus you specifically because they can point your arse out amongst the sea of the rest of the rainbow?

I personally don't mind being stuck with robes, but:

1. Options to not wear them would be nice. Leather armor exists.

2. CASTERS LITERALLY WEAR THE SAME CRAP WE DO, WHY CAN'T WE USE THEIRS AS GLAM? Give me my damn Caster Shire top!

Why should every piece be not white? That's just taking it excessively in the opposite direction. Most things are dyeable.

From this very expansion we have the black-and-purple strappy Manusya top, dark Garlean coat, turquoise Palaka top, black Ktiseos robe, grey Troian cloak and fiery black Abyssos armour, along with a black version of the Medicus chiton and the new Rinascitia set. (Darbar is inconclusive since everyone got white.)

Why should every piece be not white? That's just taking it excessively in the opposite direction. Most things are dyeable.

I see no reason why it should be white in the first place. We aren't doctors in a medical hospital. We're combat medics on the battlefield. There is 0 logical reason as to why any healer other than WHM should wear white. And their artifact gear covers it.

I say for an entire expansion because I'm tired of seeing it. I don't want to see it any more. Especially on gear that isn't dyable in the first place and also on gear that doesn't even dye the white off.

Perfect examples:



This set was given to Aiming, Caster, Healer, and iirc Striking. All but healer can dye the white out. We can only dye the sash. And while some are ok with that, I'm not. And there is no option at all to remove the white.

The Shadowless gear is also white and undyeable.



And before anyone points out the Ktiseos Gear is a recolour, it also isn't dyable, so no I can't make it pure black like I want to, STILL.

I don't care personally if we wear robes for the next 10 years of FFXIV. I care if we keep wearing white and we can't dye it off. If its going to be undyable (which is another debate I've made already) it shouldn't be white.

Conveniently, none of them is a white mage either. Imagine seeing G'raha in EW's quinceañera dress. The devs know he'd look ridiculous.

Couldn't agree more, all the ball room dress looks are so old and boring.

Something something trying to give people more reason to play other jobs... something something... artificially boosting jobs play rate... I dunno...

...I love the robes, but would be nice if I have as much options are other roles.

Every patch I hope we get something other than trash robes, and every patch I'm disappointed. Been going for years now. A bunch of tank/maiming coats would fit perfectly but seems like we're never getting that. And at this point the only glams I'm looking forward to are event/pvp ones. The radiant gear had a nice plated base but it still looks very much like a robe in the end. The heavensturn and the recent pvp gear look great on the other hand.
