Another bad thing about this one is that the skin beneath stockings remain light-toned on a very dark skinned characters. From what I've seen people posting on Twitter.

The gear has a fixed texture for the skin instead of referencing your character's skin. The bunny chief tights from the saucer work the same way and look pretty bad on both darker human skintones and the nonhuman skintones :c

Didn't they fix a similar issue with the mesh boob panel on the 2B dress, or was it never properly fixed either?

Newer things like the Tantra remake from PvP or Tataru's newest reward also look a bit jank on darker and non-human skin tones I believe.

Really feels like they're cutting corners particularly given the extended patch cycles.

There are two reasons for that. The first being that us forum lurkers are here because we have opinions on the game.

The second is FFXIV is a subscription game with a cash shop. Players hold them to a higher standard because there's this underlying feeling we are being double-dipped.

The third reason is that they have # of Posts per Page set really low. I have mine set to 40, making this thread only 4 pages of complaining. ٩(●˙▿˙●)۶…⋆ฺ

They obviously don't test stuff on every skin tone, and I know they can't catch everything, but I really dislike that it needs to get to that point before similar issues are even noticed.

The only way to make them stop single set, undyable bullshit is stop buying these overpriced items. And any other items. They don't want to put in the effort so why should we?

Sometimes I dont even think they test skin tones in general. Its annoying trying to find colors that match regardless if its raining or shining.

Also, how is the cash shop an immoral money grab in subscription game and at the same time people are angry that they don't get to spend their money because the quality doesn't meet their standards and in game outfits are better? Now it's a bad thing people aren't buying extras? Pick one, maybe.

I think having a cash shop on top of a buy to play subscription model is a really gross example of SE triple-dipping on a game that gets like 5 hours of new content every 4 months.
I also think the outfits they put out are, by and large, really poorly designed by salarymen who probably wear the same suit to work every day and just google reference pics or something.
I am literally offended by the cash shop on every front. The fact that it exists at all in this game model is disgusting. But if it's there, fine. I'll accept that reality. But now that it's here, what's inside of it? Oh, it's a lot of crap. And a lot of forced set pieces where if you just want a ribbon, you now have to pay 22 dollars for a full set. And orchestrions with no option to sample the music you're about to buy. And a shop menu that you can't open in new tabs, gotta do it one at a time. And "one piece undyeable" cosplay sets that modders have put to shame.

FF14's cash shop just sucks from every standpoint imaginable. From a consumer standpoint, it's corporate triple dipping. From just a "well, I don't like it, but I'll tolerate its presence" standpoint, it still sucks because it's a pain in the ass to navigate and loads of the items in there are awful looking and overpriced. You can absolutely hold both of these views.
