There are two reasons for that. The first being that us forum lurkers are here because we have opinions on the game.

The second is FFXIV is a subscription game with a cash shop. Players hold them to a higher standard because there's this underlying feeling we are being double-dipped.

Another bad thing about this one is that the skin beneath stockings remain light-toned on a very dark skinned characters. From what I've seen people posting on Twitter.

These "we shouldn't support this" calls to show a united front are a bit silly, as is the idea that the only people who bought this are those who will and have bought everything else that's in the store. People buy an outfit if they like it and that's it. You vote with your wallet just like I voted with mine.

Yes, always vote with your wallet. Trying to organize a boycott is futile.

There is an element of entitlement in the complaints about cash shop items. Some people act like S.E. should give them gear like free candy.

But, you can't fault people for feeling cash shop items should be of a higher caliber than gear found in the game. Furthermore, you just have a subset of the playerbase who like to spend money on their characters and feel a real sense of dissatisfaction when a product doesn't meet their standards.

Because people who resist MTX mean nothing compared to the return on investment that gaming companies get with them. We’re a vocal minority, that’s it. This thread is only for us to register our grievances and move on, because that’s the only thing we can really do. I have no expectation whatsoever for SE to act differently.

Gamers LOVE microtransactions. And FFXIV players love them so much that we have several stores for paid mods—just in case SE’s own store wasn’t enough. They get to have all they want, and it’ll only get worse in the future. The old way of gaming is dead. A game is now just a storefront for cheap crap pushed at exorbitant prices and people will buy it up and beg for more.
