Novice Network needs changes.

It's not uncommon to perceive Mentors as Ego driven players who will hinder more than help, and this extends to the Novice Network. As a Player on Leviathan myself, my NN is just, an onslaught of Spoilers, Sexually Inappropriate messages and even more unmentionable things. And this is all coming from the mentors.

We have a few good eggs that try and drown out the bad, but the others actively turn on them and will even kick them from the NN if they feel like it. Moderators do NOTHING. Either NN and Mentors need to just be done away with, or Square needs to actually make them uphold some standards and enforce those standards.

The Novice Network is many player's first social interaction in this game, and I have actively been telling friends not to join it to not ruin their experience.

NN is tame and helpful on my server, so I'm strongly against removing it. I do however believe that on problem servers the standards need to be enforced and mutes need to be handed out. Just don't do it like wow where mass reporting gets you a mute even if all you literally said is 'hello'.

Oh yeah, I have heard wonderful things about other worlds, I just, this can't keep going on. I can't even imagine how many players have decided not to keep playing based on the stuff they see in NN. I'd also like for the people who actually live up to the name of Mentor to get the recognition they deserve and not have to put up with horrible people abusing said status.

You said it yourself. Perceive. There is a difference between perceiving something and it being true.

Sometimes mentors are inconsiderate and spoil things and when questioned, they will often claim "it's not a spoiler" because they don't consider that it might cause new players to infer things from it. But returners and sprouts themselves spoil things sometimes because they are excited about a story event that just happened, and returners can be max level players who are discussing things at the very end of the game that are a bit of a spoiler.

Square needs to actually make them uphold some standards and enforce those standards.

I agree that there should be a no spoiler rule and that it should be report-able for doing it, with permanent removal from it for doing it (especially for repeat offenses). The other behaviour, such as discussing inappropriate subjects, is probably already covered by the rules.

not sure what to do to make it better... but here on zodiark its not too bad. it IS a nice place for people who arent in a guild yet to ask for advice. not all people there are perfect but its okay

Goblin NN is one that needs admin intervention. A good chunk of sprouts on Goblin know to steer clear of the network.
