Rather just buy a PC tbh. I know some people can't but really MS can gtfo with their gold membership to play MMO..who wants to pay 2 monthly fees lol

Console gaming is dead from what I saw at this years E3..the good days are over ; ; It is nice though that Yoshi-P is so open minded and is willing to try to put it on as many platforms as possible

On topic I hope it goes to ps4, that way maybe in 10 years we won't have to see the phrase "ps3 limitations!!!" D:

I'm sure FFXIV will be with the times and know how to properly port a game to the ps4 in 10 years.

Yep, the xbox 360 has always been an avenue for Microsoft to milk more income from online connectivity... its why I finally decided to cancel my Gold membership last month after 3 yrs.

The PS4 on the other hand (when it finally gets released) deserves a game such as 2.0 because players should eventually be given the choice of which online mmo games they want to pay for.

Lastly, Im still in the camp of people who are now VERY weary from hearing that nonsense that Microsoft wont allow SE to release FFXIV on xbox because of charging issues... its always been the politically "marketing" correct way to say "our console cannot handle FFXIV". True story.

MS let FFXI on Xbox but that was when Xbox 360 was just starting out and they wanted to get some kind of playerbase in Japan and attract more JP devs. What better way then having a FF title on their system.

Pretty much now that Xbox live is hugely popular. MS requires all games that have an online component to require Gold. Companies can't host their own servers must be done on MS's servers and there can't be cross play between other platforms. For FFXIV to be on 360 either SE will have to give in to MS's demands, requirement of gold, pay MS for servers and only 360 players can play on that server. Or MS can decide to let SE make the game have it connect to SE's own servers and not require gold. Which will probably never happen. When Tanaka was in charge talks broke down with MS after awhile.

You can't even use other pay services like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, many more of their sports channels without Gold. You can't even use free services like youtube, facebook, or twitter app without paying for gold on 360.

MS has not allowed games to connect to non MS servers for awhile now. They wouldn't even let Portal 2 connect to Steam servers for leader boards and Steam Friend list and achievements and cross platform play with PC and Mac users, like the PS3 version can. You won't find other mmos on 360 now like DCU which is on PS3 and PC.

360 users playing with users that have their competitors console is a big 'No' in their book. Another reason could be it was also known that people that played FFXI often didn't have gold because FFXI was they only online game they cared about playing so MS probably thinks they are losing money because these players are getting to play online on 360 without Gold which they don't really like.

There's no way that FFXIV would be able to run on a 360. Even with the new graphics engine. It is just not powerful enough of a system to run it. Already the PS3, is just barely would be able to run it.

360 and PS3 are pretty similar in terms of power it could be optimized to run on 360 if its capable of running on PS3. Its just the Xbox Live issue more then anything that keeps it from being on 360.

Not really, PS3 is about twice as powerful, however FFXIV could be adapted for the 360 just like every other cross platform game.

From a consumer's point of view, it seems the roadblock is that Xbox Live that keeping it from being ported Xbox. Now that may be one issue, whether that is the main reason is another thing.

They are similar in some way, but how you are comparing them, is like comparing an Ipad to a Archos Tablet. Sure they can do most/or around the same things, but there is a performance difference between the two. Their specific hardware and the performance differences of each, is what sets them apart. AND although as you point out, they are somewhat the same, the PS3 wins hands down in better hardware. The faster processor, better video card and higher memory bandwidth of the PS3 would be better for FFXIV to run. If I recall correctly, it has been said that they are dumbing down the graphics a bit, making it so you can;t see as many people on screen and are toning down from the pc version to be able to get the PS3 to run FFXIV..... then I would assume taking it a few notches down (from that) to make it run on the Xbox wouldnt be a good choice. It would look terrible and wouldnt be worth the development time for.

It would look like any HD 360 game, FFXIV (if they go by their origanal plans) will only be in 720p as opposed to 1080p of the PC version, this will help the frame rate a lot. 360 should be able to handle 720p and lower draw distance a bit, which shouldn't look too bad.
