Just don't do the event then? Sounds like you have an issue with the entire event's foundation. It's not my job to figure that out for them, they can write literally anything. They could actually start on new storylines that don't REQUIRE every player reading a godamn history book to be invested. I'm sick of ARR and the Calamity, it's time to let it die off and we need to focus on new stuff. This shit is more dragged out than a 20 episode DBZ Kamehameha power up mixed with filler. It's almost a meme at this point, Manga are starting to realize it's time to let go of old shit and move on. Time for XIV to do the same.
It's boring, played out, dull. I want more FF Themepark, not more 1.0 memba when.
Start making things both veterans and new players can actually play together that don't require always doing ARR content maybe.

Yeah? I've been playing since 1.0, I'm tired of talking about old story and content. It's boring. Writers and Devs need to put effort into new shit that all players can engage with, without it needing to be ARR related because SPOILERS.
Everything is behind a vertical story progression gate, let's get some horizontal stuff out here.
Might as well complain Starlight is about Christmas and Saints Wake is halloween themed. It's not my job to figure that out for them, they can write literally anything. Robyn's suggestion is the sensible post here. Instead of being angry a themed event follows its theme just don't do the event. There is plenty of content in the game that isn't about remembering ARR or 1.0.
Unfortunately you're out of luck on that one. The game is built upon one event early on, and a good portion of what came after was built on said event. Things have been developped like this for years, it's not easy to just up and suddenly shift the story and the game design away. The 7th Calamity is, after all, the literal icon of the game.Yeah? There's plenty that they can pick, sure, but everything in Eorzea is permeated by the events of the Calamity. And everything built since then has been Vertical. We can't suddenly have an event where Lv 15 players can participate going like "Ah yes, since the liberation of Ala Mhigo we've been working on this, this and that". It'd be fun, because there are plotlines that run outside the scope of the Calamity and the Ascians, but those only end up happening because said main scope opens the doors for us to do so.

Having it be any different would require a mass-scale rework of the game, and at that point you might as well have a repeat of 2.0 anyway and wait for years until they do.
Saying "I've been playing since 1.0 and I'm tired of the old story" isn't indicative of anything. Because what else do you expect to happen now, them opening a random arc just like that? At this low a level? When the game's events are specifically strict because people are just now finishing repair work and coming out of the Umbral Era? Where Ishgard is still hostile to strangers, Ala Mhigo is still under Garlean control, Yanxia is under Yotsuyu's control and there's been zero successful liberation movements to prompt Dalmasca and Bozja to start trying? Where Gridania is still stuck in its "lets not hurt the elementals" ways, Limsa is still the first to pull out and still harassing beast tribes over resources, and the Monetarists turn Ul'dah into a non-involving nation?
"It's not my job to figure that out for them" is one thing. Another thing entirely is a demand that just isn't feasible with a bit of thought. Maybe they can write something, but due to the game's structure and narrative, they won't. Even if they do, for all intents and purposes, at that point in the story where the event is going on, the Calamity is still very much a fresh topic. Any further than that and you'd need people to be ahead in the story. You can get Horizontal stuff, but some things will still be locked out. If you have a Horizontal thing at, say, lv 60 all of a sudden, you can't mention Ala Mhigo, Doma, Bozja, Dalmasca, the Moon, Dynamis, the First, the Eorzean City States starting to come together... Because all that good sweet development is unfortunately tied to another story's progression.
You don't need a rework of the game to include new 'events' and campaigns on-par with sideline stories like Alpha or Hildibrand. Look I'm not a writer, but I'm pretty sure they're not shackled by The Calamity for every single dialog box they write.
Yes, open a new random arc. Several of them in-fact. Do literally anything that isn't constantly talk about Calamity and ARR. Not everything needs to be grand god-killing scale to be an opportunity for new gameplay and lore either. Give me more opportunities to play with lower levels as well, and stop gatekeeping them by MSQ.
It's supposed to be a Final Fantasy Themepark, but we're all still stuck on the same damn rollercoaster.
Wrong analogy. The game is a theme park and the single rollercoaster known as The Rising is still going around the same track it goes around every time you ride it, but you only ride it once a year – or don't, if you don't want to. They might adjust the decorations from year to year but they're not going to rebuild the track or it wouldn't be The Rising any more.
I guess I'm side-tracked, because I wasn't really talking about The Rising. But Events and Campaigns in general. So it's kinda off-topic. lolWrong analogy.
