Ya, the job data is original so of course in 2.0 it'll alrdy be there. However 2.0 was being produced while the 1.0 abilities were still there and the new abilities were still being implemented so they kept the old abilities there as a placeholder while still creating the new class abilities. Even after the class changes in 1.0 it just doesn't make sense to implement the changes into 2.0 if you are not testing the battle content at the time. Once they actually get around to testing battle content then they can add the 1.0 class abilities and by doing that they saved themselves the time they would have spent having to change both 1.0 and 2.0 class abilities every-time they made alterations to the way the 1.0 class abilities worked.
Heh its a bit of a miss-step by SE to not have spotted these and changed them.
I'm a little surprised they haven't changed this stuff over in the 2.0 client already, especially considering how Yoshi-p was saying how they tested certain aspects of the new battle system and got it working as close to the 2.0 client as they could.

While I see your concern, "Battle System" could refer to any number of things that don't require the updated skills. Damage and Enmity algorithms, combo directions, battle regimen functions.Heh its a bit of a miss-step by SE to not have spotted these and changed them.

I'm sure that once 2.0 is updated and the new skills are placed in where the old ones were, the Alpha and Beta adjustments will come as needed.
What motivated me to post this thread was that the abilities in play were a mix of the old and current abilities. We didn't have access to Firaga before and now we don't have access to Cure II, what gives?
I also wanted to promote discussion about the thoughts and feelings or new potential abilities for classes.
Perhaps new abilities on GLA would make a DRK branch off legit but it seems this part of the thread died a long time ago ~
Is Firaga a BLM ability? If so, that would make sense, since they just put BLM in without revising THM. So the old class skills remained while the job skills were put in with it.
Fire was a Conjurer ability. You could toggle it to AoE and for a stronger cast you used the higher tier versions ~
Maybe they just renamed Cura to Cure 2 to make it more obvious which was stronger
