    In short:

    1. Raise lockout timers = overall raise in drop rates.

    2. Trade in unwanted stuff for GC seals.

    3. Garuda's 100% drop rate outside of weapons isn't good for other content because 100% drop rate on Darklight gear wouldn't make much sense without scaling down it's stats (basically making it not worth it.) Every MMO tend to negate almost every gear previously released in a new patch due to it having a high droprate and to give incentive to do the new dungeon. A sense of progress is basically completing these dungeons 100% excluding drop rates, since you get achivement for killing the main boss(es) < That's the progress, the gear is basically what makes the deal sweet.

    4. Relic weapons isn't that bad considering the 3 main points:
-You had since May to work on prereqs before knowing it was regarding "relic weapons or af weapons", most just assumed it would be for it even though we had no clear confirmation that it would be regarding af weapons in particular.
-Most everyone had a double+ melded class weapon or other weapon since it was possible to meld things, so the requirement of this shouldn't have been a problem which is more than likely why SE threw this in, because it's what people were already doing. Not everyone but these weapons aren't for everybody.
-You can't complete it now, so you can take your time with it and go with the flow, rather than rush through it and burn yourself out.

So in all actuality, SE needs to change a lot about the content start with lockout/cooldown timers since that above all is the reason the RNG is extreme. Every MMO has RNG tied to it in some fashion, but unlike some, you can spam dungeons and 'hard content (primals nonburn setups)' in this game, a lot of MMOs have at least a few hour lockout.

This one sounds pretty good at first, but then.. what does one do inbetween timers?

You can't really use this argument because only one of each hamlet is avaliable per day, AV and CC last 20 minutes, only thing you could do is spam Garuda.
Extended timers would make things bleak.

If they were extended to an hour, then I would agree with you, but then an hour in between runs doesn't warrant increased drop rates.

I think you're reaching here with the "most everyone". It seemed to be the general consensus that making class equipment was generally a waste of time apart from having some crafted for looks. To go even further and assume that "most everyone" who actually had a class weapon made and went as far as to double socketing it is quite a leap.

Depends how long a cooldown is added, how about FFXI style 72hrs for every dungeon, one a day decent drop rates and all content cleared in 2 weeks wondering what to do till the next patch?

SE need to keep players playing and right now with the slimmed down dev team working on 2.0 they can only work so fast and this is a way to pull content out, come 2.0 we shouldn't have this problem.

With how people are talking they want 15min cooldown all drops 100%, then what would you do till the next patch?

It's not so much we want stuff given to us. In XI you could do dynamis, or limbus, sky, sea, etc. You had all these things you could do on a different day but at least that gave sort of a less repetitive feel. Where as in XIV you have to grind the same dungeon over and over and over for a very very slim chance at a piece of gear. Same with the primals, its just the same thing over and over and over. I don't want to spend my entire night doing Garuda for a small chance at a weapon.

It just doesn't seem "casual" player friendly to me.

Heres a thing as well, people complain about drop rates now, what if they were doing CC or AV for one year before they got the gear they want, rather than after a few weeks or a couple of months, btw it took me one year to get my Wyrm Armet some people would wait that long for an Osode, Pimp Hat etc etc people would rage on here because of the drop rates not the overall cooldown.

If I had to choose between:

    A) Running a piece of content once or twice per week (i.e. longer lockouts, higher drop rates) and taking 6 months to get the drops you want; versus

    B) Spamming a piece of content 20 times per week (i.e. shorter/no lockouts, lower drop rates) and taking 6 months to get the drop you want

I'd choose A every time. At least that lets you do other things during your lockout, like other dungeons, crafting, PvP, etc.

every time this topic is raised i think to diablo : every mob, random drop with random stats. I don't know why that system is considered acceptable and this don't.
Regarding quote: leave long lockouts to real endgame please. like crystal tower. A 30 min dungeon (15 with speedruns) every 72 hours it's lame
