Will 7.0 upgrade or chage the engine of the game?

My friends told me that the next expansion (7.0), the game will receive a new engine and upgrading graphic of the game.
I know they're developing on the better graphic, but about the new engine, I don't know. Are they planing on change the engine like WoW?

No.

A new engine is a HUGE ( and horribly expensive ) undertaking, this is a graphical update.

Yeah, SE is too strapped for cash buying up more monkey jpegs for future NFT gaming campaigns to update the whole engine for XIV.
But at least you'll get nicer grass.

when people make comments like this, i always hope their 401k's and IRA's get zeroed out. then i wonder if they will think "why didnt someone think of the poor shareholders?"

The texture quality won't be brutally bad any more, and there will be an increase to the number of objects placed in zones so they can dress them up a bit. Updated spec only for the new expansion areas, and however many old areas they have time for, then the rest of them updated gradually over time in batches. Same engine but it's ok, some of us are just happy to have any visual improvement at all after waiting a decade.

Hard to say so far. They want to upgrade the graphics but in what form we don't know. They clearly stay in the same engine. So all I expect is better textures.

Engine is basically the heart or core of the game. While possible to upgrade it will either result in having to remake all associated assets along with the engine which as ppl said will basically be making a new game. Or Upgrading the existing engine itself keeping compatibility with existing assets which will normally severely limit what you can do in regards to upgrading it. FFXIV also has another issue however often referred to as spaghetti code where code as changed a bit at certain points resulting in layers that rely on the current engine to keep from unraveling.
