A lot of assumptions are being made in this thread, and it's honestly sad to see.

I really think the community needs a hard long look if it really does promote safe spaces and player choice, especially player choice that is private and has nothing to do with anyone else. Again, how would you know if my glams were hidden on my screen? You wouldn't, and it wouldn't affect your experience at all.

This is why these arguments feel like a thinly veiled excuse to control other people, or force them into your fantasy without their consent. It's morally reprehensible, and it's extremely creepy. Feels like a lot of players here enjoy forcing themselves on others when it comes to their fantasy/experience.

Guild Wars 2 has had this feature for a while now, why don't we?

I feel like people in an MMO should be able to present themselves to you how they want. It's right for the developer to leave some things hidden or abstracted; the client isn't meant to have control over everything. I can understand the appeal of using third-party tools to peep behind the curtain to an extent, not so much being able to see people's mismatched unglamed equipment.

I see more logic in letting people enjoy parts of the mmo they want to, and opt out of the parts they don't want.

    - Don't want to do do weekly raids? You don't have to.
    - Don't want to do pvp? you don't have to (funny how CONSENUAL PVP is a term. Strange, we keep seeing that word, Consent.)
    - Don't want to do pve? you don't have to (there's pvp)
    - Don't want to do side quests? You don't have to

    - Don't want to enable glams? You don't have a choice.

Again, my screen is my screen. Your experience is your own, and you have no right to force that on me. If I want to enjoy the base game cosmetics and armor as they are worn, then I have that right.

It's telling those wanting to force my experience to see glams when they don't know if I can even see them or not.

Honestly, it makes me feel like we have charlatans in the community who use words like "consent", "expression", "player choice", "safe space" to mask their ulterior motive that they want to control how others see the game and experience it, regardless of if they're partaking in that or not.

I'm sorry, that's wrong, morally, ethically, wrong.

I would love to know what it is that triggers the OP in terms of other people's glam

its an mmo, its not about controlling other people, and attributing that to glam is stretching, so it has to be something specific about other people having glam...period.

maybe its a pvp thing if they are into that. who knows, only the OP can explain why it triggers them so.

truth is FFxiv is a safe space, if someone want a hrothgar in 2B legs and boots, they are able to do exactly that. and that is by player choice, may not understand it, but its perfectly fine.

however OP, as much as you may think its a simple idea..is it? how much do you know about coding? I mean if you are okay with no glam, they could likely do it since SE seems to work from the all or nothing standpoint, so if you turn it off, its off for you too. its great that Guildwars can do that, ever consider maybe it was built that way?

end of the day, this fits more into the category of "ability to block seeing all other players" and would require development resources that could be better spent elsewhere. I dont see either happening.

but if other people using glams trigger you too badly or tax your stressed gpu that much... there are not that many options open to you. but for your mental well being.. you may want to look at those few options, since I wouldnt hold your breath waiting for SE to notice you

This literally just sounds like the OP wanting to go to Walmart in the US without seeing the things ppl wear in Walmart...

Except nothing in this game is as mentally scarring as the things ppl wear in Walmart...

I'm not triggered, it's the principle that I don't have the option to enjoy the game at its base value and am bombarded with endless amounts of glams from the mogstation shop.

    Just not interested.

This community isn't about choice, it's about their own personal narratives or expression, or whatever.

Honestly, I don't care about any of it.

I just want to play final fantasy 14, at its base game, and enjoy its base value.

Let me turn off glams, it's literally as simple as that.

They should just need an option where only you show up on the screen out of duties.

But glamor is part of the base game. Most glamor you see isn't even from the mog station. Also it's a two way street buddy. You not wanting to see people's glamor would be infringing on their right to look how they want to. Sure, if it's client side they wouldn't know unless you told them. Same with anyone breaking the ToS. They could have you looking like a creepy mannequin for all you know. And it's fairly hard to get through this game without doing some pve.
