Fix Portraits

Yeah, they need to fix it. Don't really care what people argue otherwise. The fact that probably 90% of people I see in instances have the default portrait show there's clearly an issue that needs to be addressed.

There's no reason it shouldn't be automatic and just work, even if you change gear or whatever.

The system is not broken. If it was, I would not be able to get mine to work, and other players who have theirs in working order would be on the same boat. The fact of the matter is that you have not been able to figure out how to get it to work. I am totally on board that it should not be this cumbersome, and should be very user friendly. I am also of a similar mindset that the system is convoluted. But it is not broken.

It worked about a hundred times better in the Beta version they had before. They really ought to just bring that back...

Been reading guides and asking people, and every time I think I have it ready, boom! My portrait appears in the default style at the beginning of raids etc. This plays like a bunch of code exploded and we're engaging with pieces of it that are scattered all over the place.

I found the fix for myself. The game hates it if you don't have the exact same gear and glam you had while making your portrait. Here's a checklist of what I do:

1. Make sure the gearset you're on is properly linked to the Glamour slot you want.
2. After that, click the gearset refresh button (top-right of your character window).
3. In the portrait window, go to the portrait you want and make sure it's linked to the Glamour slot you want.
4. Go to edit the portrait you want and click save.
5. Make sure the "Instant Portrait" button at the bottom right of the portrait window is set to ON.

Take note that if there's a yellow triangle next to the portrait you want, your instant portrait will definitely not work.

This. I stopped caring about portraits when SE decided that there's one for every gear set regardless of whether or not I want it (why tf do I care if my crafters have them when 90% of the time I'm going see them will be in content they have 0 access to ie dungeons), there is no option to use my adventure plate portrait regardless of what class/gear I'm wearing like I believe a portrait should, and also no option to make a portrait that changes with your outfit because reasons. (or even an option to completely opt out to where its just your role/class icon and be done with it).

Until its properly fix and/or implemented depending on how you see it, I'm not going to engage with it either.

Portrait only works half the time for me. One duty it be the portrait I have saved and next one it be back to default with no changes done.

I feel like since they understood what exactly it is that makes the Portraits function, they found it easy to work with.

In the beta, I was able to make multiple plates for healers in pvp. I had like 4 for Ast alone, each different glams. Just switching on the go for whatever i felt like.

Now it's a pain to even have one since you'd need to make a new GEARSET to have more slots. I understand how it works and fixing doesn't take that long, but the fact that you DO need to fix it if you as much as TOUCH the Visor/weapon toggle is... oof

It IS a bit weird that they insist on showing the current classglam you have, while it wouldn't even matter to many people. I certainly wouldn't care if it was my WHM plate when i play a tank or vice versa tbh...


The system is basically useless if you are leveling a class because of the near constant gear changes. Yes, you can have basically the same gear for about 6-7 levels before you find better gear, or even 10 if you just go by 50-60-70-80, which also works, but it is still way too much work.

And even if you hit 90, you are basically always working towards new gear. And equipping a new ring will break the system, yet again...
