The system is not broken. If it was, I would not be able to get mine to work, and other players who have theirs in working order would be on the same boat. The fact of the matter is that you have not been able to figure out how to get it to work. I am totally on board that it should not be this cumbersome, and should be very user friendly. I am also of a similar mindset that the system is convoluted. But it is not broken.
It's difficult for a player who has it figured out to help another player if they can't see what it is you're doing. There are some fail checks.
- Make sure your gearsets have no grey (!) marks
- Make sure your portrait sets have no yellow (!) marks
- Remove weapon glamours from the glamour plate (there is no reason to do this anyway), and glamour your weapon using the old system.
- Make sure you don't have multiple gearsets tied to the same job/class
- Don't tie multiple jobs/classes to single glamour plate unless all the slots are filled with the exception of weapon and off hand. Also if you do this, all the slots has to be gear that can be worn by all classes, hence why I don't recommend this in the first place.
I think that is about it. Even though the system is anything but user-friendly, resolving the issue is a problem-solving matter. Hopefully the devs will make this much easier in a future patch, but right now your options are either disable the system altogether, or to troubleshoot in order to solve for X if you want to get it to work. Frustration and anger will not help you.
I had some trouble getting it to work on patch day along with most people. Another suggestion I can make is to use a healer or tank, and queue up for either Trials or Raids roulette to check if its working. There was no way I was going to confine myself to a duty of 15min+ when I was troubleshooting the system.
