Eliminate the level restriction of glamor and add more toggleable options for gear

Please eliminate the level restriction on glamors and add more toggleable options for gear

    1. There should be no level restriction on glamor as long as you can equip both items.

Usually, players equip the best gear they can find, which is often the one at the highest level (currently 90).

However, there are some instances in which the best gear to use is of lower level such as Eureka (70), The Epic of Alexander (80) or Save the Queen areas (71 for the Bozjan Earring and 80 for the Augmented Law's Order sets).

Since the appearance of a higher level item cannot be cast on a lower level one, our glamor options available are severely limited in these cases. This restriction should simply be lifted as long as both the item to be glamored on and the original item can be equipped by the job we are playing with.

This also impacts the level 70 Stormblood ultimates UCoB and UWU by forcing players to find appropriate level 90 gear in order to avoid the restriction.

    2. Add more toggleable options for gear, especially chestpieces.

Currently we have three toggleable options for our gear: weapon, head and visor.

I'd like to ask the developers to give us more choices, especially regarding chestpieces.

Chests often have extra parts that fit in some cases but not in others.

    a. An example can be found in the Panthean Cuirass of Fending (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...m/fff231bef06/).

This tank chest has two shoulderpads that are "floating" above the shoulders. The shoulderpads fit well when combined with long armored hand pieces like the ones obtained in the same raid.

However, if we decide not to use gloves in order to take advantage of the nice wristguards provided by the chest, for instance, the shoulderpads look weird on their own due to their floatiness.

Therefore, it'd be better if the shoulderpads could be toggled on and off.

This problem can be found in other pieces of armor such as the Yafaemi Mail of Maiming (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...m/08baf3def76/).

    b. Other chestpieces that could benefit from a toggleable option are those that come with belts or even skirts attached.

For example, having the ability to remove the accessories around the waist of the Craftman's Singlet (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...m/d8550d23c84/) would provide us with more tank top options, especially since we have no "simple" tank top. The closest one would be Skyworker's Singlet (https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...em/0cda2eaa295) but it comes with a tattoo that may not appeal to everyone.

    c. Can you think of more chestpieces/gear that would benefit from this?

TL; DR. Lift the level restriction on glamour and give us the ability to toggle on/off specific parts of chestpieces or any other suitable piece of gear.

There are other threads related to glamor (like this one: https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...ther-jobs-sets), so feel free to show your support for them too if you agree with their suggestions.

I do agree that it would be nice to be able to decide which part of a gear piece we want to show or hide with more toggleable options.

Another chest piece that could benefit from this besides the Skyworker's Singlet could be the Yakaku Dogi. While those chest pieces are great and I don't mind having a tattoo, it would still be nice to be able to toggle it on or off, especially for those who might not be fond of tattoos in general but who would like to wear this kind of clothes. I guess that another solution to this would be to release the same item without the tattoo, but to be fair it'd make us waste more glamour/inventory space so a toggleable option would be better.

I was also thinking of two hats that have nice pairs of glasses that we cannot find in game: the Isle Vacationer's Visor and the Varsity Flat Cap. The glasses are "attached" to the hat and you can only choose to hide or show them. I wish we could do the opposite and keep the glasses on while removing the hat. Otherwise, I hope we can get them added to the game separately at some point.

Last point I'd like to mention are dyes. We need more dyes as we are lacking a few options even though we have various shades already. We don't have bright oranges or fuchsia colours that are not metallic dyes. Also, we've been having new gear released during EW that had some kind of bronze/copper details, and yet we don't have those colours as a dye for ourselves (e.g. the Lunar Envoy's Jacket of Fending, Lunar Envoy's Justaucorps of Casting and other jobs). We can still try to use some shades of brown to match this "bronze" colour but it's not really the same and some items dye differently than others. Adding this colour as a dye would allow us to use other pieces of gear than the ones from the sets in question without struggling to find the perfect shade that matches.

Glamour is secondary to gear. Best they can do is the occasional set like what dropped in the PvP Crystal vendor.

Unlike some who think you can't have both..,
this is a need.., of the devs plan to keep us under the bad glamour, or AdventPlate/Portrait System.
being able to glam starter gear for PVP for the sake of not adjusting gear later on would be a help.<Aka race gear, and lvl 1 weapons-minus for expansion jobs who don't have a completely low level equivalent->

as well as simply put, using said items for Display without putting your Special trade in items at risk.

As for toggleables, it works well for many things like coats with a preset underlayer/outfit. having it open/exposed vs closed/shut.

whilst it's more unlikely than likely, it's be nice to have a return of what the smallclothes had in the past. though that would add alot to the system that no longer exists<so it'd be better of for the successor after the next 10 yrs>

People even jokingly mentioned how the WHM gear in the ads for XIV had the hood up. that could offer new Gearing options, like having many of the Mask, Glasses/Shades, and circlets/headgear to be used in tandem with other not interfering Glamour.

While it wouldn't be as open and liberating when it comes to glam as new items and options, old/new/removed. some of the optional toggles and Unlocking can exist withing current restrictions. without causing massive gear changes.[though it would have a time to sort through.]

Honestly the whole glamour system needs to be looked at again. It's needlessly restrictive. FFXI had a better/more freeform one.

These changes would be a good start, for sure. When all the content is done, there are only a few things that keep people playing and glamour is one of them.

Oh yeah, I like that new outfit quite a lot but I'm not a fan of the tattoo so it'd be nice to have an option to remove it.

This also reminds me of the Abyssos chestpieces. A toggleable option would allow us to use the chests without the rotating fiery rings if so desired.

The newly released Isle Vacationer's Shirt and Isle Vacationer's Tie-front Shirt could have benefited from this too to avoid having two items that are so similar, even if there are some differences between them (their design is meant to be gendered but available to all) and the former comes with an extra necklace.

It's fine for this specific example but if they want to release two very similar chestpieces in the future, they might as well just add the second as a toggleable option as GTK0HLK suggests too.

Good point! Instead of having to add new headpieces (which would otherwise occupy more space), they could expand the head toggle options so that in these cases you could go with either the main headpiece, the glasses or both. Often they release pieces of gear like these with elements that are nice but we can't have on their own.

They definitely need to add these new dyes, especially since they are already in the game, just not available as an item for players.

My main issue with dyes lately is the fact that they are releasing dungeon gear that cannot be dyed at all. For the latest 6.3 MSQ dungeon, it is "alright" because it's a recolor of previously available outfits even though they changed which jobs get which model. That is good but it could be better if they were dyeable.

However, outfits with unique models like the Troian or Pagl'than ones should be made dyeable. It was quite a bummer to discover that these ones in particular were not because they're really nice pieces of gear but are sadly a bit limited due to not being able to recolor them.

They recently made older gear dyeable for the Tactics Ogre event and the chocobo costume so here's hoping that they will keep doing so for at least all the gear obtained in dungeons and alliance raids.

With the upcoming graphical update, it would be great if some of the suggestions in this thread became a reality

    1. Just raise your character to the sufficient job level. The current system provides and incentive to do so, and it is rewarding. Unlike instant gratification, which is what you're asking for.

    2. A toggle option would be nice. Many chest pieces are ruined by the extra flair that not only conceals whatever is resting in the leg slot, but makes sitting and other poses/animations look awkward due to clipping and ignoring physics. You would think that the gear in the game would be extremely limited in this regard due to the limitations, but is actually completely the opposite meaning the dev team seems to only consider the characters in a rigid standing position when designing the gear in the game.

The shoulders or pauldrons on fending/maiming sets is another thing that drives me batty, and I would favor a toggle option here as well. However, I recognize this as more of a personal preference than a flaw in gear design. Practicality isn't always favorable when it comes to fantasy. Simply looking really cool has its merits. Even so, I believe there is a bit of underrepresentation for players like myself who desire practical fending/maiming sets for females, and toggle options would help.

Next time you rush to defend SE you might wanna take some time to read what's actually being said.

All my battle jobs are at max level. I am talking about the possibility of using max level glamor (90 right now) when doing duties like Eureka, Bozja, UCoB, UWU or TEA, as these often require you to wear lvl 70 or 80 gear.
