I think people are getting companies confused with factions, mixed in with WoW guilds.
Linkshell: The guild of FFXIV
Companies: The player made, and NPC made factions of FFXIV
Guilds: You can maek craftings here.

I somewhat agree, but at the moment there are many people leaving the game after a little while, and as we know, limited with things to do ingame. So it becomes natural for many players to keep several Linkshells, to keep themselves occupied. But of course, leechers will always exploit such a system.Man, I think I'm in the minority when I say I hate multiple LS's and is an option to block out other LS chat viable for LS leader admin? I can understand having some other social LS for chatting or one for special events, but right now, people run around with several LS pearls and just jump from one to the next when someone is doing something. It just promotes selfishness. I guess I'm old fashion when back in the days, you join an LS to help that LS, not join an LS to only put it on when something is happening.
I also agree with the OP.
And by the way, what are the details about deleting a linkshell and starting over? I really like what I have, and I'm worried that if I delete it, the name won't be available. How does that work?
Very very sad that no mention was made in linkshell management capability's to come soon. I'll just weep softly to myself now.
Signed. I may make this a daily thing that I do as I've seen a ton of threads regarding this particular issue. It's not like it's a contentious issue either. It's something that everybody needs. I don't understand the delay and I'm also getting a bit frustrated. It still doesn't even have a dev tag. We get a dev tag for a spoiler, i.e. Ifrit battle, but we still don't have any dev tag recognition for something that is should be integral to social gaming, and that is group management tools.
The proposals set by the OP aren't only basic, but absolutely necessary.
Day #1
Even if they are forming companies that have more options, we should still have a couple more options for linkshells.
My main issues are:
-Promoting members only when in same area and near by
-Not being able to remove inactives
-No lsmes
I understand linkshells seeming as just social to many, but the aspect is still the same. So far it's a huge inconvenience just to keep the linkshell 'clean'.
I could go with having all the 'online' members at the top of the list too :P
What I did was just break the linkshell then make it again right away. Once it's broken, the name is available again. Just don't wait to create it and I'm sure you'll be fine.
Hey wait people DO read this section! yay ^^
As far as companies go I feel that they will turn out to be FFXIV's spin on the Allied Forces from XI.
Ex: I pledge to the Twin Adders where then i can take up missions to earn gil, sp and a specialized currency or reputation to climb the ranks. At higher ranks I get access to higher level missions (Campaign Ops) that reward even more of the forementioned.
IF SE do release player companies I don't think they will make linkshells obsolete but instead enhance the experience, maybe even bringing multiple Linkshells together for a common goal. Only time will tell SE's true intention behind the System but regardless, Linkshells are a core feature of this game just as much as the battle system, the armoury and everything else getting overhauled. Why is this the only one being left out?

I never realized this was in the Other section. I can't remember how I got here in the first place. Nonetheless I'd just like to reiterate my point above.
Yea when these new sections were added I redirected the previous post from the general discussion to here where it has recieved very little love.
