    Ascian Language Confusion

So we know that the ancients / ascians have their own language ever since ARR, which was again confirmed in Shadowbringers, when all of the Shades created by Emet use it.
The Watcher and Hythlodaeus use this language as well when we first meet them on the moon.
Yet when we travel back in time to Elpis, not only do all of the ancients speak our language, they also don't seem to be confused by the WoL's way of speaking.
Is there a good explanation for this?

I'd say the way how Emet enchanted us, gave us the ability for conversations with the ancients, the echo noise voices, I'd say are maybe a result of the age of set language.. idk
but the Words that the Ancients in Elpis for example are Greek. (sorry to burst that bubble)

I ended up with two possible theories the last time this came up. Talking about the weird nonsense language spoken by the ARR Ascians, that is, not the weird echoing speech used by the specters which is probably some kinda magic.

    1. That's what Amaurot Talk sounds like when filtered through tongues, ears and brains that just can't process it,

    2. It's an Ascian cipher language designed specifically so that they can talk amongst themselves without being understood.

I think it's simple enough to assume that it's just being translated for the player's benefit.

If an Ascian is "speaking Ancient" in the modern world, you need a special text box to indicate that their speech is different and non-Echo characters can't understand it.

If everyone is speaking Ancient to each other, you can drop the convention so it won't be a huge chunk of the story all written in red-on-black text.

I think it's more of this than anything else.

The Au Ra NPC in the MIN/BTN EW quests drops some Ancient language on us and it comes out with the same ShB sound effect and text box. But that would get old after hours and hours of NPCs talking to you. Plus the main 4 in the MSQ are all voice acted anyway so there'd be some disconnect when it switched to that in non-voiced cutscenes.

    What Iscah and Mikko said.

Though this makes me remember Lahabrea talking to us using Ancient language in Thousand Maw of To-to Rak and then being delighted that we understood him.

I'd also venture to say that the researchers in Elpis are used to communicating via The Echo with their creations, their creations being animals, so a perceived familiar speaking an odd language probably isn't so weird to them in either case.
