    Haircuts on Glamour Plates

Everyone that engages in dressing up in this game knows that not every haircut fits every glamour.
This is especially true when it comes to longer hairstyles, since they simply clip through many armorsets, which basically forces you to choose a shorter hairstyle, or run to the barber every time you change glamours that don't fit with your current hair.

Why not simply incorporate hairstyles into the glamour plate system?
Not only would it make it easier to avoid the clipping problem, it would also help players express themselves even better.
Just let the player choose which hairstyle they want for each individual plate.

It's likely impossible. If changing hairstyles was that simple the aesthetician wouldn't have to take you part way out of the game first.

    That would be unfortunate.
It doesn't seem like it should be a big deal

The Aesthetician has to take you out of the game because that's how the character designer works. Changing your hairstyle to a presaved one should be no more difficult than equipping or unequipping a helm or hat. So give everyone 5 hairstyle save slots, require a Jandelaine's Token every time you want to save a hairstyle (and provide some source of Jandelaine's Tokens), and then let the hairstyle save slots link to glamour plates and gearsets.

Since haircuts are not "game items" but actual character features, the glamour plate isn't made for this kind of change. It should be feasible, but I think it's pretty low on their priority list. Depending on how the game is programmed, this "small change" might need many other changes to the game's underlying systems to make this work correctly.

I've been hoping for hair styles on glamour plates too, mainly because of the clipping reason. I want my character to have long heavy metal hair lol, but it clips through some of the armors I use for different jobs, so I use a shorter long hairstyle, the shoulder-length one.

I understand that the way the devs have created the systems in this game may make it more complicated that we might think to put hairstyles on glamour plates, but I actually thought of a workaround they can use so they don't have to create any whole new systems to make it work:

Just make all the hairstyles you have unlocked purchasable from a special NPC as a "hat/helmet," for gil or MGP or whatever. Then you can choose the shaved head hairstyle at the barber and wear these "hat hairstyles" as gear items that can be added to your glamour dresser and included on glamour plates. Basically wigs.

Tbh, this feels a lot like expecting more out of the glamour plate system than it was designed for. Plates are just a fancy way of running macros to cast glamours, saving us the effort of doing so manually. Hair style is not something you can glamour, making it something the plate system likely isn't even capable of handling.

This is very much creating a whole new system.

No it's not. What I'm suggesting would just be adding new gear, for the head slot. That's not the same as creating a whole new game system that would involve new UI elements and a way to partially access the character creation system through the glamour system. The latter would obviously be alot more complicated than adding some new "helmet" items (which would be made out of existing hair style models that are already in the game.)

Every software feature is more than the system was designed for and something the system isn't capable of handling, until someone implements it.

It's really not. What does wearing equipment mean to the game? When you get down to it it's just a list of IDs for models, textures, dye colors that need to be displayed on the screen. The glamour system is little more than a list of the same, intended to override the underlying gear for display. It would not be so different to tell either a Gear Set or a Glamour Plate to also store IDs for a hair model, texture, and dye colors.

The back end should be easy enough to implement. Where I expect it to go wrong is in the UI/UX of it, as SE is notoriously bad at that part.
