    Crafting Questions

Is there a purpose to off-hand crafting? or is it just to take advantage of a different stat? IE for GSM is there a hidden bonus to using the grinding wheel on refining gems?

do the stats on the off-hand effect the primary? vice-versa? (specifically craft/mg. craft)

for gearing up on crafting, what stats should be prioritized? IE: should i always look for craft+? or is stacking the primary stat for that tool better? at what point should i start getting control? etc.

Yes, for some recipes HQing with an off-hand means making more items. If you're just making secondary materials to grind on, you may want to do this.

    no.

From what I hear, generally you stack the stat for your primary tool and control.

    Thanks Urthdigger!

does craft or mg. craft do anything? or is it just not well understood yet?

    I'll start looking for +control over +craft

Craft and Mg. Craft DO impact things, but it's... difficult to use. Basically, craftmanship and magic craftmanship impact chance of success, and how much progress is gained. The problem is that every recipe is either governed by physical, or governed by magic... and there's no clear way to tell beforehand whether a given recipe is one or the other. There are rules of thumb out there, but there's always exception to every rule.

Best way I've found, is simply to use up to date gear that's DoH focused. If all your gear is roughly the same level, you can expect to get a fairly even spread across all three stats. Then just stack your main stat with materia, and eat fish for added control (Control reduces destabilization by the way).

ahhh. I see. i was thinking that might be the case with craft and mg. craft. sort of like att or def.

I'm finding i want to destabilize at least once per craft. simply from the quality boost i get from my ability that fixes destabilization. sounds like there may be some negative consequences if i let control get too high.

if craft/mg. craft is increasing success however. it sounds like i want to prioritize that in HQ crafting over control. especially in HQing things at or above my level.

Thanks for the info! i'll have to experiment a bit.

i aim for 1 unstable per synth to make use of brand of ______ so i dont add control unless im getting multi unstables. Using the correct element brand of skill to the unstable element will give you 100 quality which means more xp even if your not HQ'ing.

Well, I tend to try for synths that are 6-7 levels above me, so even with added control I find I usually get a destabilize.
