Yes...... I had forgotten door partitions work this way. I avoided using it simply because of this issue.
Dyes should be applied to the wall, not the door. It's common sense, SE.

At the current state, you still have to use + float the white rectangular partition to hide the undyeable portion of the partition -- which take up a few item slots. It's a shame.
