    I definitely agree on the GNB light and Goring Blade comments though. Goring feels like it was designed to be sonic break with no DoT and all damage but it feels completely underwhelming, clunky and out of place to use. Divine Might is alright when doing dungeons for a slightly more interesting aoe combo than just 1-2 (this is the nicest thing I can say that came out of the PLD rework, and it just adds to the GNB light) but for single target HS just feels so out of place to use after an atonement or RA.
    I also see your point about good paladin gameplay, I guess it's just my opinion that jobs shouldnt be reworked because people feel obligated to do that most amount of damage for the least amount of effort (even if that wasnt the reason for this update) the jobs were already there and you could use them in sooo much of the games content without knowing a thing you were doing, just press buttons and win. I don't mean that as in I dislike simpler jobs but rather completely stripping jobs of their identity/uniqueness because of it I really dislike. It was the uniqueness and quirkiness of paladin that I loved. P4S phase 2 for example, my group wanted one of the tanks to do the 2nd bait for Act III so i swapped to the less optimal opener and had my magic phase ready. Same as P8S p1, we have a really good BLM who took the front melee spot for easier uptime and I did the same thing there so I could do my magic phase and take the range position. Less optimal? Sure. Was it fun? Absolutely. Little things like that are what made Paladin feel really good to me and now all of that has been replaced with hardcast HS spam.
    Oh no sweat; to be fair under the old Paladin; you generally did not roll right into the blades combo at 90 after requis for your rotation; regardless I still preferred the old paladin gameplay to the new which just feels flat and awkward; having done this tier as Paladin. I used GNB when higher damage was needed and I agree the race against enrage is a frustrating dynamic to compete with; but as a dev I suspect the only alternative would be to have Boss HP pools be determined by party composition (could you imagine? "Well the party is 4 DNC 1 PLD 1 WAR and 2 AST; so P5s boss HP pool is 20m")

    Honestly it doesn't even feel like a rework to me and more like a elective surgery to improve paladins place in the 2 min meta and reduce the issues with dot damage.

    I honestly hate it so much that it's killed all my desire to keep playing. I love a variety of jobs, including DRK, but I still can't be bothered to learn the new ex Trial or even do the new 24 man. Never, since I started this game in 3.4, have I ever felt so little desire to experience the new content on release. I almost don't care if I lose my house at this point. I don't get why it's depressed my desire for XIV this bad, but it has.

    Because you experience the game mostly through PLD maybe ? I remember I started to stop playing WoW when Rogue was getting «*updated*» and removed a lot of unique features and skills. Or when the incompetent Fail Wars 2 team nerfed my class for a bunch of crybabies on forums while never nerfing the real OP class that was left untouched for years. This really shocked me how bad «*balance*» or rework updates can be. Really not surprised here.

    I was already preparing for this since I moved to GNB & DRK now for tanking.
    The WoW meme with a paladin on a wheelchair fits well here lol

    I mean in casual play, PLD's slightly better at tanking anyway if it wasn't for warrior just existing and pressing funny blood whetting button, it would be considerably stronger then other tanks in your average dungeon content Considering bulwark and divine veil being used in your aoe mitigation, having more Sustain in aoe through divine might holy circles, Having more control over sustain in bosses, I really don't think DPS really even matters in dungeons though.

    It's certainly every so slightly less effective in solo content I guess...? I mean it's still paladin it's still going to be one of the better Solo Jobs out there, I don't know I think we're at a net positive personally in "meta placement"

    I'll certainly agree that the PLD rework was flawed I don't think it's bad to be honest but it really did need more time, but I really don't think it's gonna be worse off in harder content generally if not more people will actually give it the time of day now and even consider it with the other tanks, but really unless PLD is going to do more DPS then DRK or GNB it's never going to be meta because meta is all about DPS.

    It's just not though, it lost dps with the changes in 8 man content and gained in dungeon aoe combat. They did what they set out to do, it now alligns better with other peoples buffs. But this comes at the expense of PLDs own damage, even in buff windows.

    I'm going to throw my 2 cents in here since i loved playing PLD.
    I've played PLD since the start of shadowbringers, i loved how the combo was so much more unique compare to the other tanks. all of the skills fit in a nice orderly line. it was a lot of fun just knowing every phase on PLD felt like a burst phase.
    I tried the new PLD, been trying to get use to its new rotation, HS being free if used after Royal, and not having a physical phase and a magical phase(just mashed the 2 together for bust i guess). then getting use to its 123 combo filler till next burst(pull out phone and watch a 1min-2min video cause this part of the combo is boring).
    I don't really care about the damage it does cause that's just SE fault not mine. it could do the most damage in the game and people would still complain but on a different tank. i played PLD because it was different compared to the other tanks, but now I'm switching to GNB since it at least feels closes to old PLD.

    Dont get me wrong if u like the new PLD that's great, i just wish it was a new tank and keep the old PLD so I don't feel bored playing tanks.

    ps I don't play healers cause pressing 1 button for damage and 1 dot isn't very fun for me, ya i guess they need to heal but with how raiding been most healers just press 1 ogcd and go back to pressing 1 button, and ya they did kind of make it harder then 1 ogcd heal but mostly by making tank busters do dots, which yay most tanks Invuln and if they dont just pop a shield and a regen then go back to button mash( remember i don't main healer but this was what it felt when i tried to)

    After the lack of 6.31 potency buffs, and since it's current position in the meta didn't change, I've changed my mind about the rotational rework. It's worse than if the rework had been a failure, it instead served no purpose and was absolutely pointless.

    These changes came at the cost of making PLD worse in all level 89 and below content (of which there is a significant amount). The only "problem" they attempted to solve was a lack of burst and there is the lacking DPS in 8 player instances could have been addressed by increasing it's damage so that it's damage outside of the burst windows made up the difference. Yes, this probably would have made it OP outside of 8-player content, but that is fine because SE only balances around performance in 8 player content.

    They could have also worked on smoothing out the rotation with smaller adjustments such as the following:

    If they wanted to adjust it to remove the dots, that could have been by converting the dots into a RPR Death's Design style "Takes X% extra damage from the PLD" they could leave this on a 21 second cooldown to retain the "hit goring blade/blade of value 3 times a minute" style of rotation
    If they wanted to make atonement dropping feel less bad, they could have given Fast Blade a "Raiden Thrust" style mechanic that consumes the remaining sword oath for bonus potency (less than using on atonement, more than 0) they could even use one of the unused animations like Shield Swipe or Savage Blade to do this.
    If they wanted to let us use confetti a bit more flexibly, there's no reason that they couldn't just have converted Confetti to the "Confetti Ready" and otherwise left Req in tact (reduce it to 4 casts if they like). Then you still retain the magic phase.
    If they really want us to weave our casts, they could still have given us the divine might mechanic and lowered Sword Oath stacks given by RA to two.

    However, instead of tweaking things that made sense, they just took a sledge hammer to it and cobbled up the remaining pieces together and called it a day.
    At the end of the day, this is their game, they can do whatever they want with their jobs, but if you gotta change the job for the sake of it then do it right. They should have waited until 7.0 when they have budget and time to do it.

    Revert Pld back to before 6.3 SE and give us back our great tank!!!!!! New PLD is horrible. These changes make pld feel empty and clunky hating it so much now. I main Pld since 1.0 and going forward to see this is a shame and not want the players wanted. So please bring back our PLD before 6.3.
