    I resubbed 4 days ago after a break since 6.0, and never in the years that I've played the game have I had the latency issues I've been having in the past few days. I play on Cerberus (EU server), and in the mornings the latency seems to be manageable (it's still very much there), but in the afternoons and evenings the spikes often last 10 to 20 seconds, with complete server disconnects becoming more frequent later on during the day.

    Needless to say, this makes dungeons as a damage dealer a lot more dangerous than they need to be, and as a healer or tank they're downright impossible. This evening I tried twice to do some ocean fishing and got booted from the server both times.

    I'm not the most savvy person when it comes to internet tech issues, but resetting the router has done nothing to alleviate the problem. I can try playing via a VPN, though I don't know if that would help at all. If anyone has any other tips or tricks I'd love to hear them as this is really sucking the fun out of the experience...

    I've been experiencing horrible lag as well for several weeks. Tonight was absolutely the worst experience I have had in this game. Sometimes the lag would clear up after the first boss in a 24-man raid, but it continued through the entire run of the latest 24-man. I watched my corpse skate around the final arena, stand up 15 seconds after I accepted a rez, and immediately fall over as a minute's worth of AOEs and abilities all appear on screen at once. I'm playing on a PC, wired connection, Spectrum internet, Crystal DC. The game is truly unplayable at this point. I have teleported into a city and run across the zone before the white effect around my character "landing" even shows on the screen. Something is clearly wrong SE.

    I am using a VPN now and it helps with the constant freezing when I use a VPN at US West but it raises my ping

    Hi all,

    playing on Raiden/Light DC.
    Since Patch 6.3 I have massive lag issues that are especially bad in the evenings rendering the game unplayable. It affects all gameplay aspects (other players teleporting, GCDs not lighting up, retainers take forever to load etc.).

    My connection to Light DC is showing up as Poor, although it used to be Excellent, as I'm located not far away from the physical location of the servers.
    My connection to Chaos DC is displayed as Excellent, but I haven't checked, if lag persists there as well. Will check with DC travel.

    But yeah, it's extremely annoying and with the new raid tier coming up, idk if I'll be able to play at all - leveled up a character on EU because NA raid times are rough - can't always raid until 3am in the morning with a job.

    Not sure what to do about it, I tried uninstalling the game, changing WiFi connection settings etc. Not that tech-savvy so I really have no idea anymore. Playing on PS5.

    So I tried running the game with a VPN on yesterday, and didn't have a lag spike all day. I turned it off in the evening and resumed play, and the connection was still fine. Today I played without a VPN at all, and have had no lag issues whatsoever.

    I have no idea why that would've fixed it, but it seems to have done just that. Perhaps someone more knowledgeable in the ways of the internet can deduce a cause and solution for this, but I'm at an actual loss...

    EDIT: Now that it's later in the day and there's more people playing, the issue is back, though not as bad as it used to be. I think for the time being I'll simply have to stick to playing via a VPN.

    More fun with graphs now that SE has acknowledged there are some network issues in NA. First the route map:



    Hop 4 is leaving AT&T's network, hop 5 obviously is entering NTT's network. First we look at our traffic statistics from AT&T to NTT:



    There are a couple of spikes, but pretty comfortable 20ms on average. Then we get to hop 6, which is another NTT node in Dallas:



    Here we start seeing maximums of almost 2 second latency, but still no packet loss. However, when we look at hop 7 which is the long haul from Dallas to Los Angeles (I previously thought this was San Francisco as I only had the device name to go off of) and we start to see a massive problem:



    From the 14th at 2030 CST we start seeing ~30% packet loss which lasts roughly 12 hours. There's a short window where it stabilizes until 0900 on the 15th then starts dropping packets again for two straight days. This resolves at roughly 1300 on the 17th, then starts back up at 1800.

    I understand the SE NOC can not feasibly monitor service quality from every players origination point to the game servers, but when the support staff just copy and paste the same 3 boxes over and over again blaming our ISP's for the issue and never escalating it, it's pretty annoying.

    Posting here because my spouse and I are having same packet loss issues and have been for a few months now. Internet is running fine, no packet loss with other applications that are running at the same time as FFXIV. Only seem to experience the packet loss somewhere between us and the SE servers. Seems to happen mostly in the late evenings/night. It set my spouse back on his TOP prog because he's had days where it caused him to freeze over and over and cause wipes (eventually they did clear, but not without a lot of lag along the way). Meanwhile, I'm trying to do EO and I just keep freezing/lagging my way through.

    Please, fix. Thanks.

    Sadly's still some lag spikes happening after the patch 6.4 dropped. It's rough because the blind seconds of what is going to happen is nerve wrecking that I stopped leveling up Tank and Healer Classes... and today in a Dungeon run did I got knocked out from full health to zero due to lag spike while leveling up the Samurai class x.x (Almost lv 70 on it, just Monk is left sitting on lvl 60 and all Melee DPS classes will be lvl 90 for me.) Yes that's the only thing I can do, leveling up DPS classes and avoiding to go to Endwalker content until the issue is fixed...

    Here was AT&T's response:

    I have checked in over the network lines, and the team has indeed reported a know issue for which the case is being worked upon. To assist you best upon the issue being cleared over the backend server, I would also like to help open a dedicated port over your router as well, so that the game can indeed function smoothly over the intended device. Would that be okay with you?

    For the tech savvy:
    Go to your modem's Firewall setup page in your browser, and open the port range: 2031-2032 with the base port at 2031.

    Non-tech savvy: Go to https://www.att.com/support/internet/ and scroll to the bottom to chat with a rep or call 800-288-2020. Tell them about the issue with the lag while playing Final Fantasy XIV, and ask them to open the port range: 2031-2032 with the base port at 2031 on your router for you.
