Legacy Type Movement: More freedom to view your character while moving

I love Legacy Movement, it might be my favourite way to move around in a tab targetting MMO, just because of how much control it gives you over your character.

However there's one thing I would be glad about if they changed it:
Correct me if I'm wrong, but there's no way to view your character from different camera angles using the mouse while running, because the camera keeps following your character's back. This is something you can do using the left mouse button during standard type movement, but you can't do it with legacy type.
Is this not something that can be changed?

While auto-running, you can move the camera with left mouse button without changing your character facing. Right mouse button will still change your character's facing during auto-run.

Even without auto-running, you should still be able to turn the camera around by holding left-click in legacy type. Unless you are using the Strafe left/right buttons while moving, in which case the character will always face the same direction as the camera; you should use the Turn left/right buttons in order to turn your character around freely.

As long as you are holding the Move Forward, Move Back, Move Left, or Move Right keys, either left and right mouse buttons will both change your facing. The left mouse button only leaves your character facing alone when you are stationary or auto-running.

Exactly, why does left mouse work like it should while auto running, but not during normal running?
It seems like such an easy / obvious thing to fix

It's the way the movement buttons work, not the mouse. The mouse does what it should do: move the camera. That much is working correctly. The thing about movement, however, is that legacy mode is by definition camera-based movement. So when you press the movement keys, your character will always move the direction you press, oriented with the camera. That much is also working correctly. When you stop pressing the movement keys, you can move the camera without changing your facing again.

I get that, but why then not have two separate cameras that work together?
One camera for movement controlled with the right mouse button, and one camera for viewing purposes controlled by the left mouse button?
When you press the left mouse button, the viewing camera would take over, without taking away the control over your character.
    Is that not possible?

What you are asking for is Standard camera setting. The whole point of Legacy is that "forward" is wherever your camera is pointing. Changing this destroys the purpose. If you want "forward" to be wherever your character model is facing - use Standard.

I believe the purpose behind Legacy setting first and foremost is to give the player an optional and more convenient way to move their character. The fact that this movement is based on the camera is besides the point

If they can't do it because of technical reasons, fine.
But it would feel better to me if it was possible, and I don't see how there would be a sacrifice to anyone gameplay wise.

And no, Standard Mode is not what I'm asking for. I've already tried that one out plenty.

Something must be flying over my head; because as far as I know, it doesn't matter whether you're stationary, auto-running or normal-running. Pressing LMB has never changed the direction my character was facing.
