Why did Female Viera get a near-duplicate sitting posture?

As a bunny enjoyer, I was a bit disappointed when I logged into the new patch and found that the new alternate sitting poses were identical to the ones that Hyurs had gotten.

One of these poses was this one:


It's a perfectly fine pose, and I'm sure Hyurs will get a lot of mileage out of it. However, it's very similar to an emote Viera already have!



It's really disheartening to see stuff like this, because it betrays how little attention this race seems to get when they make cosmetic releases like this. The whole point of the alternate seating poses is to have some variety to how your character sits, whether you are socializing, role-playing, taking screenshots or the like, and Viera players now getting two near identical poses feels like it was neglected.

This is a problem that likely wouldn't need much work to be resolved! The devs can instead pick a different posture to give to them. I noticed that Au Ra and Miqo'te have a "hands folded" sitting pose that would look really nice on Viera! or the Elezen hands on lap one. They wouldn't need to make anything new, just pick a different pose that doesn't resemble an existing one :/

Hrothgars also have two similar poses where they rest their hands on their waist.

I don't know why Square Enix decided to do these things ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ but eh

Point is, you're not alone in that one, and the variety does seem to be a bit stuttered. But maybe the small nuances and the difference in arm positions can help with GPose posing?

Was kinda hoping these would be racially unique, if anything at least this time around it's not just Viera being 2nd class citizen but the animation distribution being roughly based on height classes.

This can be seen especially if you notice how the animation grouping for males and females are different.

Meanwhile, male Miqo'te already had two "stand with one hand on hip" poses, and then a few patches ago they gave everyone the retainer "stand with one hand on hip" pose.

I don't think it's any race-specific neglect happening here; they just never check for duplicates in the individual poses when they add a new universal one. The "new" poses look to be ones that they already created for NPCs previously.
