I think the point is that people want stuff to work out of the box. It's nice if some QoL gets implemented no matter how (looking at you, buff timers).

I just don't like the fact that you buy a game and then you are expected to download 10 add-ons or you are out. That's BS. I take whatever SE implements and may use the one that mustn't be named that starts with p when I play on PC but other than that I'm not going out of my way. I think how the other MMO does it is utterly ridiculous in that regard.

Players should not expect other players to download addons. But SE should also not expect players to not create and download addons that fix blatant mistakes and oversights in the game's design. QoL and common sense should be there from the beginning. Players shouldn't need an addon to put ears back on their Hrothgar. They shouldn't have needed an addon that stops the camera from spinning in Legacy mode and shows the length of people's buffs and debuffs. Why did it take 10 years to fix something like that? In base game we still cannot see the damage type of an attack being cast despite the fact that damage reduction abilities only work when used during the cast.

And players should not need an addon to fix the issue where lag prevents people from double or single weaving, that the devs don't even realise is an issue despite the threads about it and at least two addons that exist to fix the problem. SE even needed players to find what was wrong with the login queue at EW launch. The devs really need to take a hard look at the defects in their product, and luckily it seems like they are starting to do that.

SE can fix that with their client, and they should, likewise stop recording to combat logs as well.

And yes they should due to it creates an unfair advantage against Console users.

The day they ever break ACT to a point where it can't get around their anti-"cheat" is the day their raid scene dies. And they know that. Which is one of the reasons they're never going to touch parsers but forever keep them in a grey area. It's simply far too beneficial for them.

If you're primarily referring to triggers and such. Several of the well known programs can get around the battle log if they ever needed to. The only way you're breaking add-ons is through anti-cheat software everyone will be forced to download. Which creates its own problem, and may not even work. Guild Wars 2 tried that when mods started becoming more prevalent. People got around it within a week. Much like ACT, Square simply benefits too much from the sheer number of people using mods nowadays. Losing ten of thousands of subs just to for the sake of purity isn't something they'll want to do.

I use a 3rd party tool to play the game too and im glad it works regardless of the patch cycle.
I mean, without windows 10, a 3rd party tool, my mouse and keyboard wouldn't work nor would the game!
I also use Nvidia software to enhance my graphics like a total monster OP claims we all are lol.
I keep in touch with my FC through Discord, so that's 3 named 3rd party tools i use, and likely countless to keep the game running i don't know exist but im using lol.
