But your example only shows furthermore how bloated it is,

btw how do you push shift+1-5? that would give my hand a cramp.
Pinky on shift, then either ring, middle or index finger on 1-5. Preferably not middld as I keep it rooted on W for movement.

Shift 1 though i tend to use middle finger instead by letting go of W. If I need to retain move I either jump with momentum or strafe temporarily.

I wont deny certain jobs have bloat with minimal purpose, but then again it is not as much of an issue. What matters is putting the frequent abilities on easier access keybinds and putting more obscure ones (like LB) on modifiers.

Sorry it took so long. Recorded this last night right before raid time. Don't mind the poor color quality the PS5 HDR capture takes isn't calibrated....it looks better on my TV. My TV is 65" so that's why my menus are so huge also.

That is my basic hotbar layout for my paladin on PS5 controller. I think the ONLY skill i'm missing is Cover.

My intervene is keybound to a macro so that I can utilize the Dual Sense Edge back buttons...intervene is a blink and you'll miss it because I don't even switch to it to use it. The back button just runs the macro and it executes.

As I said before...all of my mitigations are on the expanded hotbar...which you will see me cycle to very quickly. With the dual sense edge controller you can set your R/L triggers to become hair triggers...so I don't even have to pull them all the way in. Very quick. Using my mitigation in-between my normal rotation is pretty simple, but there is a lot of muscle memory going on there so keep that in mind.

    F1 F2 F3 F4 F5
    1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
    RTFGH
and 10 buttons on my mouse.

and that isnt even enough to cover all abilities for some jobs.

I have the impression the game devs themself don't play the game on PC, otherwise they would be aware of this problem
The problem with testing keybinds is that everyone has different solutions to their layout. Considering that the default for FF14 is just 1 to 0 (which seems pretty horrific to me), I get the expectation that we are all going to come up with different solutions to this.

For example, in contrast to your preferred bindings which have 28(assuming that I counted correctly?), I have 40 relatively comfortable hotkeys with the following setup (I unbound turn and put strafe in it's place to free up Q/E since I never used them)
    Main hotbar (+shift/ctrl bound to my mouse): q 1 2 3 4 e r f z x c v
    Job specific: F1 F2 F3 F4

This gives me 16 easily accessible keys with an additional 24 on the modifiers. I like to put the less pressed abilities like invulns/stances/LB on CTRL since it's the most awkward, and AoE Attacks and abilities that only get pressed once every 30 seconds or so on shift.

Like, the best key binds are the ones that are most suited to each individual, but I do feel like the number of bindings they allow us can be pretty comfortable, especially when using mouse' side buttons. So I'm not sure it's a problem with SE not testing mouse and keyboard, but rather that they just kind of expect us to come up with something like the above (using modifiers and the like).

Personally I just use an MMO mouse with Shift and CTRL as modifiers and everything is super comfy, can sometimes take a little getting used to but pretty much keeps my left hand free for movement/ jumping and modifiers. I do have sprint and LB bound to keyboard on a shared hotbar. Overall that gives me 36 hotbar space that I can comfortably access, and could go as far as 48 if I bothered to use Alt as a modifier.

And default also includes " - and = " which would be 11 and 12 on an mmo mouse.

I saw some suggest that Goring should activate FoF, but I think it's better that FoF activates Goring. Same as how Req activates Confiteor. Leads to more flexibility, which seems to be the direction they're taking PLD.
