    The flow is really awkward now, before at least using the naive rotation it looped pretty cleanly (I never messed with -18 FoF or whatever and still did fine in extremes and such, although I did play around with the 2.5 GCD rotation for a bit before 6.3). I was assuming you'd have to drop atonements somewhere to keep it lined up but I'm seeing people suggest hardcasting Holy Spirits, both of which I'm not a fan of.

    Edit: On the upside, there would be some flexibility in choosing when to use your Holy Spirit so you can time it with disengaging from the boss if needed

    Really surprised Sheltron still requires gauge. Honestly surprised they didnt go the Goring blade cost gauge and make cover/intervention/sheltron have cooldowns.

    Why didn't they just combo action Req into Confi? There is no point once you have Confi that you will not immediately just Confi after you Req.

    It would save us a button.

    Don't have Confi yet? No problem, Req just remains as Req and business remains as usual.

    Also, why on earth is GB is still a hard GCD? It's now an orphan that must be pressed during your buff phase and ONLY during your buff phase.

    Because apparently they want players to still be reliant on third-party tools. Well, "reliant." It's not that you can't handle the existing buttons, it's just that it's a lot more convenient when you can have something that just swaps buttons out for other buttons when they're part of one-way combinations.

    Thing that gets me there is they implement that system for PvP, and it works, but refuse to consider back-porting it even though they've established and had more jobs since the old days, so have needed to update the 'spaghetti code.'
    And then get mad when people use 3rd-party to get that same quality-of-life elsewhere.

    I don't post here often but if it has to be said, better here than other forums where it's drowned by lowest common denominator. To sum up what I think about it, the rotation changes are not an improvement in anything except for some percieved meta.

    I don't know how "bad" the DPS of paladin was before. I don't know how "unviable" it was before. All I can say is that purportedly, these changes were done to fit "better" in the meta. I do know that I had 0 difficult doing any content and that I was fairly competent at the class, rotation, and as far as I can tell, match others for DPS and do better with PLD in than other tank classes, all gear equal.

    The cost for fitting "better" in the meta is an absolutely gimmicked rotation that's really just a sad shadow of its former self. For most of the rotation I'm just bored, waiting for my 60 second rotation for a really brief burst where I keep an eye on my abilities for a second - and miss how cool everything looks because I'm focused on the weaving to make sure I get all my damage in during buff windows. For the rest of it, I'm just pressing (123+4+5*3)*2.

    For what I assume is less than a single digit percentage gain in viable DPS, we lost a DOT rotation that was unique among every class in 6.2 (goring blade is a joke now,) we lost an extended ranged rotation in favor of a burst window one that defied the current meta. The class is less fun, loses its consistent damage WHICH WAS WHAT MADE IT ACTUALLY INTERESTING OUTSIDE OF RAID/TRIAL CONTENT, just so some people screeching about how it performed in the top1% of the 1% could be satisfied by it?

    You can give those kinds of people a class that's one GCD that does 1000 potency per GCD and they'll be happy. PLD was one of the few classes where you could still do well even if you didn't pull insane optimization. But I would argue that said insane optimization was part of what made it good - in regular content you still do fine doing the regular rotation. If you wanted to pull out all the stops, you got creative.

    Now? I couldn't care less about the class. The rotaton looks visually uninteresting, by loss of goring blade keeping things unique in feel (even warrior still to maintain its buff, at least, which breaks up the animation flow and keeps things relatively dynamic), in favor of just repetitive spam that really hurts what little variety exists in the game already, especially for non-DPS roles. I'm extremely disappointed by this. Between 6.0's changes to many classes gimping their fun in earlier content, to the removal of kaiten (but deciding to split jump and mirage dive when the removal of kaiten was specifically because of controller weaving issues??)

    If you ask me, bring back Goring Blade as a DOT we have to maintain, remove or rework circle of scorn into something else. I can at least live with GB mixing things up a little even if we completely throw out our magic rotation outside the burst, as we have. As it is, the current rotation is sterile, boring. It could be worse, but not by much. It's definitely not an improvement.

    It's only tangentially related, but I feel like PLD having kind of shitty animations becomes more noticeable now that it's been sanded down to fit into the existing GNB/WAR-shaped hole. Like, jesus christ Holy Spirit feels bad to press.

    Walked away from Paladin as of today.

    Gave up my Mount run tank spot because I refuse to play Paladin like this.

    They did NOT need to do this, Paladin was in a very nice place. Whoever decided to do this is 100% WRONG.

    Honestly, if I cant play the class I love, why stay subscribed?
