In XI they eventually let you upgrade your Relic/Mythics/Empyrean/Stat based weapons due to level cap raising, so if they learned anything from their previous MMO, is that Trials of the Magian type system is needed in this game once we're to the point we have a few set of "legacy/relic" type weapons and instead of doing what other MMOs does and make them worthless after an update, let you upgrade them in a way of your choice depending on which trial you choose.

Also yes, fuck that card system from RO..my god was it amazing when you got that 0.1% card drop and had the equipment to actually support it, which was also another 0.1% drop.
