    Suggestion: An Adventure Journal

I wanted to put this opinion out there, as I haven't really seen or heard anything like this mentioned before. World of Warcraft has a feature in their game called The Adventure Journal. It lists out all the dungeons and raids in the game and allows you to view information about the instances, and bosses that are within. About the trash, boss mechanics, etc. I think something like this would be a really helpful addition to the game.

Now, I'm not saying to make something just like it, but I think something similar could be really cool. The journal wouldn't be giving you strategies or telling you how to beat the boss, it would simply list information out in an organized and official way for the players to understand. This could help the player base not have to worry about third-party help as much for these things, and it could even be used as an immersion tool as well. As you fill out the map of a 4-man, or 24-man, the map could be drawing itself in your journal at the same time. As if the WoL was filling it out themselves. The first time you click on a boss could add it as an enemy in the journal entry, and every time the boss does a mechanic, it'll add a brief explanation of that mechanic in that boss' entry.

As the game is getting bigger, it's becoming more and more difficult for a lot of people to remember the important things about all the content in the game, and I think something like this, could add a lot to the player's overall experience.

Do you really need a book full of "Don't stand in Orange"?

Definitely not, Some of the 4-man explanations could be simplified down, but I think this could be really useful for all the trials, extremes, 24 mans, savages, and ultimates in the game. Also, adding an easy place to view the maps of the zone, and some other miscellaneous information I think could be very nice. Especially with the recent addition of the criterion dungeons, I think this information could save a lot of people looking this kinda stuff up. I think it could help a lot of people who want to play the game blind and without guides too.

A guide doesn't stop being a guide just because it is an in-game "journal". What you are describing isn't "blind" in any way.

The "map" thing is hilarious though. Here is this rectangle/circle. And here are rectangles and circles connected by corridors.

I could see this being useful for content once you've already cleared it X number of times, if only to help people remember strategies following long breaks or simply not doing the content for a long time since there's 10 years of dungeons, trials, raids all with new or unique mechanics. The number of wipes to Mist Dragon, for example, because "I haven't done this dungeon since it's new" could be avoided, slightly, if there's something saying "When the foe becomes icy mist it defends itself with a freezing gale!"

That being said, I don't feel it's necessary but it could be convenient and I wouldn't be opposed to it's inclusion.

That's the idea. Just somewhere to keep track of the abilities in the game and have a nice and neat way to keep track of them. from everything to casual stuff to hardcore content. Nothing like telling you strategies and how to resolve stuff, but I think it would be a nice inclusion. This would be a pure QoL addition. Nothing that needs to be in the game ASAP, but I think it would be cool.

I really disliked the dungeon journal in WoW and always thought it was a bad idea. It took a lot of fun out of learning new bosses when they were released as you already knew what to expect. Even if was locked away for a few weeks, people will still datamine the information.

If someone wants to look up a guide for old content, there are plenty of them posted on YouTube and other websites.

Also having the map already available for the Variant Dungeon takes away a lot of the fun with trying to figure out how to fully complete the thing, especially with the final secret.

The thing is they're slowly making all mechanic markers look the same. With 6.3's patch you will have all ARR, HW, ShB and EW share the same marker look. And by the time we get to 6.55 they will have finished with all of Stormblood. At least with instanced fights. I'm sure they also change any open world markers when they change ones that are used by dungeon bosses or trash inside of instances.

I don't think it's a bad idea if someone cleared a certain duty for a certain amount of times to have an adventurer journal describing the mechanics and possibly some lore on the boss itself (Just like WoW adventurer journal)
The point of clearing the duty a certain amount of time so it doesn't spoiler the bosses and their mechanics. By the time you clear it for... let's say 5 times? You should know most of the mechanics if not all. I see this is extremely helpful for people going on breaks and forgetting mechanics as a result.

I at least think it be nice to have a loot list and being able to preview dungeon items. If anything it would be cool for the presentation. I always liked the dungeon journals in WoW solely because it looked nice to look at
