You don't lose aggro because if you did, you could force a mob onto another player simply by desyncking, even if you had a thousand times more enmity than them. You could also troll in the other direction by instantly resetting the FATE just as someone else arrives to join in. While the current system does let you reset the FATE by dragging a target outside the FATE circle, there's almost certainly enough time for someone arriving to hit the mob first to prevent it from resetting.

Just don't do FATEs on the wrong job while you're waiting for a queue pop if you're worried about having to deaggro to accept your duty.
