Hi! I try my hands at this 'complaining' thingy. I know it can feel like it's negative, but I want everyone's benefit and sadly the content creators who get to attend the media tours are not asking the important questions and request the most important features.
This post is about targeting, I write about that because that's a common issue for everyone. It is nowhere near industry standard, one could say it doesn't make sense.
The targeting command in the keybind settings (Esc->Keybind->Targeting) says:
Cycle through Enemies (Nearest to Farthest), but it doesn't do that at all.
It basically only takes the first closest target (makes sense) and orders all targets from left to right from the first one then cycles between them.
(with Ignore Depht target type setting)
Order of target indicated with signs:
We have also an other target type setting called Cone that basically has the same issue as the first one (it being point of view based) that also messes with the first target being the closest!
This also overwrites the perfectly functioning Auto-target configuration set to closest range which is a very viable setting for controller players since it makes action use automatically target the closest enemy.
Cone type only changes the basis the cycle calculation to the center of the screen from plain left->right. In some usecases it is superior to Ignore depth, but without a certain camera perspective it never produces the result that makes sense.
(Target #1 is not even in range, Target #2 is)
These settings will never result in a clean character distance based target cycle. There is no setting in the game that results in that, so please don't try to explain to me that I'm wrong, or tell me how should I move my camera/position my character to get certain results, or how many times I have to tab to reach that one certain target I want or to improve my clicking game.
This is a request for a quality of life feature that is much needed, ever since I started I made many friends and acquaintances try the game and everyone with even a miniscule of MMO experience complained that the tab targeting sucks and the most I could tell them was to click the nameplates if they didn't like it. Also it is widespread, one could say common knowledge in the PvP community that one has to learn to click the enemies on the Enemy Party List if they ever wanted any viable results as a job that deals damage (all jobs lmao).
Please join me in this cause. We are getting many QoL stuff nowdays and I'm pretty sure getting an other target type setting in Character Configuration wouldn't ruin anyone's day...
