WoW has many faults, but one thing that I think that FFXIV can shoplift from the game is Heirlooms. For those that do not know, heirlooms are account wide, armour-type specific gear that (at least used to) increase experience earned, and effectively gives best-in-slot gear for every level, removing the need for gearing by dungeon drops or buying gear.

To explain further, in WoW, you have different gear types: Cloth, mail, plate, and leather. If i get heirlooms for plate, any plate wearing class that i level will have access to plate heirlooms and level like 10x faster.

Because FFXIV doesn't have that armour-type system of WoW, this will obviously need to be tuned to either melee dps, ranged dps, healer, tank; or, maiming, striking, fending, casting, healing, and aiming. Obviously for simplicity sake, i'd be leaning to the first option here.

What do you guys think? Should there be a gear system like this in the game to reduce the level grind with alt jobs? For the MSQ people worried that this will removing that experience, I think it should be tied behind completing up to the latest expac's base MSQ to unlock.

Thoughts?
