I love how Guild Wars 2 level syncs everyone depending on the location so a max level player can play in a starting area with new players and not be overpowered. I think FFXIV should have a similar system for our overworld. In our case I think making it an optional setting would probably be better as some players are probably used to grinding mob dropped mats quickly in low leveled areas.

The issues gets kinda resolved once my friends reached dungeons, though I'd love to be able to at least smack an overworld mob with them without one hitting it. I want to be able to do the overworld content together (more then just fates) without making a new character every time a friend tries the game.
What's the point? The MSQ consists of the following: Talk to characters, do dungeon/trial/AR, do solo instance fight, deliver an item to npc, travel to X area, fight on X ambush.

You can do any of those with your fellow newcomers except the solo instances, because, as intended, is solo.

I get it, you want to play the game like a new player would with your friend, and even tag along with them while having the same/similar level and ilvl. I don't think there's a lot of want for a feature like this though, but I think it could be added into the new game plus feature where you could sync down to any level/ilvl. Don't know if that could be abused though.
