    Voluntary Level Sync

I've recently had some of my friends try FFXIV, and I had a very difficult time trying to enjoy the experience with them due to the level difference. I know I could start a new character but none of my friends started at the same time so I'd have five new characters that I don't want to deal with. I love how Guild Wars 2 level syncs everyone depending on the location so a max level player can play in a starting area with new players and not be overpowered. I think FFXIV should have a similar system for our overworld. In our case I think making it an optional setting would probably be better as some players are probably used to grinding mob dropped mats quickly in low leveled areas.

The issues gets kinda resolved once my friends reached dungeons, though I'd love to be able to at least smack an overworld mob with them without one hitting it. I want to be able to do the overworld content together (more then just fates) without making a new character every time a friend tries the game.

I use New Game+ so I can follow along with a couple friends as they do MSQ, but when there are enemies to fight in the open world I kinda just stand around and let them handle it. Maybe it would be nice if New Game+ itself allowed you to level-down to the level of the quest you're doing, that would be something. Outside of that though, I don't think the feature would get a whole lot of use -- not to mention, many zones have quite a level range depending where you are on the map. What is the "level" of North Shroud, or Southern Thanalan? Or are you suggesting you just manually set your own level?

FFXI let you sync your party to one member's level, but that's because everything was essentially open world. Dungeons weren't instanced. It's possible they could implement something similar.

Considering the pre-dungeon experience is but a drop in the ocean of things to do, I doubt this is an issue being considered.
Other than FATEs what more is there to do with someone in the overworld?

Coincidence! I was roleplaying recently with a friend in Coerthas West and we were killing Hunt Bill targets together. All my Jobs are 81+ though, so it wasn't super thrilling because I'd just one-shot if I touched them. Did wish for a Level Sync option, but yeah judging by other people replying barely anyone wants it or cares.

You can just queue duties for that, not that there's much to practice.

What's the point? The MSQ consists of the following: Talk to characters, do dungeon/trial/AR, do solo instance fight, deliver an item to npc, travel to X area, fight on X ambush.

You can do any of those with your fellow newcomers except the solo instances, because, as intended, is solo.

I get it, you want to play the game like a new player would with your friend, and even tag along with them while having the same/similar level and ilvl. I don't think there's a lot of want for a feature like this though, but I think it could be added into the new game plus feature where you could sync down to any level/ilvl. Don't know if that could be abused though.
