Linkshell has no master

A long, long time ago, I created a linkshell for me and my friends. After awhile, I stopped playing. I had stopped for several months, and when I came back the game was so different I decided I wanted to start over. I deleted my character and rolled this new one.

Except I forgot to break the linkshell first.

Now I have a new character, and my linkshell still exists, but it does not have a master. No one can add new leaders, and no one can break the linkshell.

Well, now I'm back. I'd like to continue using my linkshell, or at the very least start a new linkshell with the same name. So I placed a call to the GMs. They said it was beyond the scope of what they do. So I went on to the SE support site and chatted with someone, who told me that without a leader, it's a dead linkshell, and they can't delete it. Oh, but since there are still people with pearls, the name is unavailable until everyone who has a pearl drops it. This, of course, is impossible, since there is a large chunk of inactive people in the LS, including leaders.

I think you're lying to me. I can't believe that there is no way for you to delete this linkshell. What if someone had reported it to the GMs and said the name was offensive? You'd be powerless to change it? There you go, everyone. If you want to have a linkshell with an offensive name, all you have to do is roll a new character to create it, invite a bunch of people to it, then delete the character that created it. Your offensive LS will live forever.

But herein lies the bigger problem. In the nearly two years I've played this game, from beta til now, I have made over a dozen support requests, either through the support center, this forum, or a GM in-game. Not once has any of SE's support people or GMs EVER actually helped me with anything I've requested. All I ever get are copy-pasted responses or some other manner of being told that no one wants to help me. Either, "It can't be done," or "The admins in Japan won't let us," or I'm simply ignored.

What's the secret to get you folks to actually do something? Whose supervisor's supervisor do I need to talk to?

I don't really see what's so hard in making a new shell, and pearling whoever is still active in that shell. plus, you're the one who decided to delete character and create a new one, so you should have known that such thing would happen.

It's people like you that are the reason SE thinks it can get away with their atrocious excuse for customer service. They know no matter what they do, they will have a legion of fanboys ready to defend them to the death.

I'm not saying you're a fanboy (because the first thing fanboys do when they're accused of being fanboys is deny it), but what you said is something a fanboy would say.

I never said deleting my character without breaking my linkshell wasn't a mistake. If I didn't think it was a mistake, I wouldn't have mentioned I did it.

Yes, I can create a new shell, but I can't use the same name without making some modifications to it. I'd rather not have to do that, and I don't think I have to. I am certain there is a way for SE's people to go in and delete the remnants of the dead linkshell, they either don't want to be bothered to find out, or they simply don't want to do the work.

ya sorry i have to agree with day_night you should have known this issue if you played FFXI then you know even better. This is 1.0 they said many time they can't do anything with the linkshell system they have to rebuild from the ground up.

Please stop picking fights with me or making excuses for SE. I'd like to get this resolved. I know "I should have known better" but that doesn't mean I don't deserve to be helped.

No one is picking fights with you they telling you what you need to know. There no way to help you out sorry you have to delete your linkshell and rebuild it's really that simple. That or hope to god there a way to fix it in 2.0 but by then you be switching over to free company so you be rebuilding anyways.

With all due respect, I don't believe you. I'll wait to hear from the SE admins themselves.

If they can delete items, and they can delete characters, then they can delete linkshells.

You not going to get a reply and if they do reply they going to say the same thing. how about you do a GM call so maybe they can prove it.

@OP - Look, I understand you're probably really stressed out from being ignored by FFXIV's customer support, but you really gotta understand that they aren't trying to pick a fight they're just trying to tell you how it is. SE won't and/or can't pay for a real full time GM service so they more than likely just hire cheap work to sift through the TONS of requests that gets sent to them on a daily basis and send the real GM's to the more pressing issues. But speculation aside, I really doubt they have the manpower to help everyone with trivial problems, although I do agree it's not exactly becoming of a highly respected company like SE to have such poor service, even in this games current state.

Don't even think it lack of GM it just the fact they don't have the power to even fix this issue they simple tell you to please delete your linkshell and rebuild. I'm sure once they make free company/ new linkshell system they be ways to fix this but sadly right now there is no way the only way is to delete and rebuild.

I don't even think you get a rep post for this issue maybe a GM telling you to fill out there thing and that about it.
