    client crashes and random dc

    Topic.
More detailed, the client crashes randomly, if I'm interacting with the environment or standing afk for a few minutes. Multiple times daily, never less than 3 times in a 5 hour period. I am 100% certain this is not my network status related. Have tried on many different networks at friend's houses, they've come here, still experience the same problem.
Usually get a "there is a problem with the game server" and get booted to char select screen, and it takes 5 min to log back in. Less often I crashes straight to windows desktop and says cannot find direct x device, or simply the client has crashed please restart FFXIV.

Hello Taggerung5, and thank you for your report. The problem you are experiencing sounds serious, but is not a bug strictly speaking. I am forwarding this thread to the tech support section where it can be properly addressed. Thank you again for bringing this to our attention.

Crashes still happening, and occurs just as often. Usually if I dc once, it'll happen again less than 5min after I log back in, and it goes on for a half hour.

My advice is to uninstall the game, delete the "Documents\My Games\FINAL FANTASY XIV" directory, defrag your hard drive, reboot, and reinstall.

There's a lot of other things you could try, but pretty much any time the game started harfing like that, the only solution for me has been a reinstall. Yeah, it takes a long time, but it works.
