So you are demanding respect? The ones that do a tank buster 10s into the encounter.
If I'm tanking and the jumping spaz DNC/BRD decides to pull, they might eat that buster. Oops.
YPYT is fine to be ignored with trash mobs who can't really hurt anyone much. Completely different story on boss mobs in trials.
Ultimately it's about respect. Someone wants a timer. 10-15s isn't asking much. Respect it.
Don't respect it? Don't be surprised when people don't respect the puller. It's a 2 way street.
Personally, I don't care whether people abide my pull timer or not in casual content. Starting a pull by forcing one of your party member on a weakness debuff seems anything but cooperative, hmm?
If the early pull will wipe the party then yeah that's understandable (lol CLL and Dalriada). Otherwise, it's not a big deal.
It's nice to see one, but if anything, I've come to learn that such small details in daily DF things are more of a luxury.

When everyone says they are ready by responding to the Ready Check, and then you are given a silly countdown timer, it's time to fight. Not wait on that silliness. If people responded with them being ready, then they are ready to fight. Not wait further on a timer, then fight.
Usually by the time the pull timer is started by someone, I've already pressed the pull button and the game is just going through the delayed process of registering it and making the boss run to me.
What if I am the tank? Some people like to optimize rotations, waiting 15 seconds for the tank to pull isn't going to kill you. Pulling before the tank certainly will.
We live in a world where we can survive a lot of things without healers. But if your going to prepull in a raid/trial, i can, and will, let you die.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."

There is this concept called a "starting signal", which is different than a ready check. I wonder if you ever heard of it, it's pretty common in real life too. When everyone says they are ready by responding to the Ready Check, and then you are given a silly countdown timer, it's time to fight. Doesn't matter if you can survive 10 things without healers, as long as there is one thing you need them for ... they win![]()
The only thing they win is lost time. Maybe they can lord themselves over everyone in lower content where tank lack tools but in this current content, tanks could just easily spite in return for surviving for a very long time, die, then disrespect the timer again. There is this concept called a "starting signal", which is different than a ready check. I don't have a hill to die on this topic, I'm just pointing that in battle between tanks and healers, everyone loses.
Healing DRK is literally... the same since ShB. The reason why people think it's a meme to heal nowadays because DRK receives very little to no buff to their sustainability vs 3 other tanks getting something useful. If you're capable of healing DRK back in ShB (or any tanks), then you'll heal EW DRK just fine.
OP and a few others in this thread have peak "if you dont respect me as authority, I wont respect you as person" energy. All thinly veiled by claiming respect is a two way street.
You sound like you've never done EX and above or are very problematic in those situations. When everyone says they are ready by responding to the Ready Check, and then you are given a silly countdown timer, it's time to fight. Not wait on that silliness. If people responded with them being ready, then they are ready to fight. Not wait further on a timer, then fight.
Main character syndrome, yo
Anyways, extreme, savage, ultimates, Atomos, and final boss of alliance are the only fights that really need a countdown. If you're expecting a countdown in normal trials/raids, or even dungeons, then uh... you're gonna have a hard time because people wanna GO.
In all honesty, if you're with a random group the chances are small that others are going to care that you're trying to get a good parse to post on FFlogs, They want to get to killing as fast as possible so they can get out as fast as possible. Your parse means nothing to them. Once the ready check comes back with everyone ready, don't expect the party to keep waiting.
Save the pull timers for your static or group of friends that are okay with indulging your parse obsession.
Half the problem is people using the word "respect" when they'd be better off using other words instead of one that so commonly gets misunderstood (sometimes intentionally).
Are they asking for respect as in admiration of skill/accomplishment/status, or respect as in consideration for another's feelings/personal boundaries? The first is earned, the second is a two way street. Most of the time people are looking for the latter but others will act like they're demanding the former.
